Do you want to shoot your dick off? Buy this gun!
Why would anyone buy one of these now?!
Notification for those considering purchasing a Sig Sauer P320/M17/M18.
Several organizations and jurisdictions have taken action regarding the SIG Sauer P320 handgun due to safety concerns, primarily related to reports of unintended discharges.
The Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (WSCJTC) permanently banned the P320 from its training facilities after an investigation concluded the firearm could discharge without the trigger being pulled. This ban was initially implemented as a temporary measure following an incident in October 2024 where a recruit alleged his P320 discharged while being drawn, injuring two people. In response, the gunmaker Sig Sauer has sued the WSCJTC, arguing the ban is unnecessary and not well grounded in fact or law, and claiming it causes financial and reputational harm.
Other significant bans have occurred. The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), one of the largest competitive shooting organizations in the U.S., banned the P320 and all its variants from all its events effective immediately. Gunsite Academy, a prominent firearms training facility, also banned the P320 from its classes, citing significant questions about its operation and a need for answers before allowing its use. The U.S. Air Force Global Strike Command has halted the use of the military version of the pistol, the M18, following an incident where an airman was killed. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has also banned the P320 for its officers, directing the purchase of replacement firearms.
Despite these bans, Sig Sauer maintains that the P320 cannot fire without the trigger being pulled, asserting its safety through testing by the company, the U.S. Military, and independent laboratories. The company has also rejected the notion of a safety defect, stating the P320 is one of the safest, most advanced pistols in the world. However, the bans by training academies, law enforcement, and competitive shooting bodies indicate a significant level of concern from various sectors.
Snagged this at $508 delivered to my FFL. Had a coupon for signing up at Primary Arms which saved me $12. Not sure why this is a thumbs down. Can't find this in stock anywhere cheaper even if there is free shipping when you factor in tax.

A lot of gun shops are returning the P320 and don't want anything to do with it. Sig isn't going to admit any fault with this pistol or it just opens up the door for many law suits and settlement checks.
