  • I think the Sig Romeo 5 is the best red dot on the market for $150 or less. It comes with every feature you could want and is tanky enough to take a beating and continue functioning. 50,000 hour maximum battery life, motac, clear glass, 2 moa dot, and standard mount compatibility with just about every aftermarket red dot mount on the market. I have put this on several different rifles, everything from shorty ARs in 5.56 and 7.62x39 to AR10s and it has held up excellently with no shift in zero even after dropping it twice from shoulder height. Most of the time that I have been running it I have put it on a UTG .500" 13-slot riser and it pairs very well making close range and out to 300 yards fast and intuitive. It has some competition from Vortex and Holosun but I think this one is the best overall dot for the money.

Too bad this isn't the HDR version with the "Predator" green triangle reticle. I bought two of them when Bereli had them in stock for $150. It looks like they've been discontinued, and are out of stock. I regret not buying more, when I had the chance, the Romeo 5 HDR is a great buy, if you can find them for $150.

$100 is about all a Romeo5 is worth. No such thing as a Romeo5 HDR. The "XDR" you're referring to was disco'd because the reticle had a habit of only displaying parts of the triangle at random, the silly Predator movie influenced design blocked most of the target past 50yds, the circle dot of the standard Romeo was much more practical, and the econo plinker buyers the XDR was intended for didn't want to spend double the price for the gimmick. I'm glad yours is working for you and you like it but the XDR was disco'd for a reason.
