Description

NAA's Ranger II Break-Top is inspired by the Schofield-modified S&W top-break design of the 1870's. With a simple nudge from the thumb the barrel and cylinder assembly to pivot forward, with a cam-activated star presenting the spent cartridge cases for easy removal and reloading while the cylinder remains attached to the frame.
The North American Arms Ranger II is a compact and reliable revolver that is perfect for concealed carry. With a 2.5-inch barrel and a weight of just 23 ounces, it is easy to carry and conceal. The Ranger II is chambered in .22LR, which provides ample stopping power for self-defense situations. The revolver features a five-round capacity and is constructed with a stainless steel frame and cylinder. The Ranger II also has a unique design with a top strap that is integral with the frame, which provides additional strength and rigidity. Overall, the North American Arms Ranger II is a great choice for those looking for a small, reliable, and powerful revolver for personal protection.

Another day, another couple of geniuses digging up the age old "how small is too small" dilemma. Lol. Lmao even.

Thats exactly why.

I have a friend who carries one of these on NAA's weird necklace holster, he swears to god he is going to stop an attacker mid assault by somehow not only getting ahold of the worlds smallest pistol while someone is on top of him, but also cocking AND shooting it...not to mention hitting the intended target in a really vital location (which would be needed with such an anemic caliber fired out of such a short barrel).

Exactly! People don't realize how difficult it is to even just pull a conceal carried, high capacity, full sized pistol under extreme stress like being physically assaulted. Trying to get a "pistol" like this out, aim and fire straight enough to hit a vitals target is living in a pipe dream. These are the folks who consider running up to the hills or the range to shoot a couple boxes of ammo per year as "training"....
That "paper" isn't going to be advancing on you, grabbing you, hitting you and trying to steal your pistol and wallet or just wanting to kill you.....for those who understand the fundamentals and the reality of a true self defense situation would NEVER carry one of these in any sort of configuration for self defense. At best these are range toys. In now way shape or form as a 25+ year, state certified department of public safety standards and training instructor, I would recommend this "pistol" for self defense......but believe what you want and if you think this is proper self defense pistol, may God be with you!

I am not a fan of these micro revolvers. The practicality is pretty nil and they are not a gun I'd consider buying then using for self defense to protect oneself and or loved ones. I think these are better conversation pieces than they are actual self defense tools.
First and foremost the .22lr and even the .22mag round really isn't a good caliber for defending oneself if being attacked with violence. Now it may make a perpetrator think twice and or to leave if you pull it out in self defense. Most crooks aren't going to stop and ask "what caliber" pistol you have pointed at them.
The 2nd issue is that with very short barrels, velocity becomes a problem which can lead to "keyhole" issues while shooting paper at any range over 2 to 3 meters. Then you have the issue of consistent specs within most .22 bulk ammunition so you'd need to buy and use only high power, high quality, much more expensive ammunition with this pistol.
And one of the major problems is the trying to draw from a pocket or pack, track the target under extreme tension and fear, then finding the target with the almost non existent sights, then only having 5 rounds of low power ammunition could get you killed over protecting yourself and or loved ones. For almost $500, there are dozens of much better pistols and revolvers on the market right now. So yeah, don't waste your money on these. Always try to replicate severe stress and physical trauma when training and running proper drills with this and it will teach you All you need to know. Move on and take my word and experience that these are nothing more than a $500 (after the background check fees, etc).conversation piece.
And yes I am sure there will be plenty of hate or disagreement with my experience and opinion but that's ok
I enjoy conversation over the guns offered on this site.
