I took the risk and ordered the other day anyway. My head measures 22.75 (compared to the size cap claimed at 22.25), frankly don't care too much about the claimed ballistic rating but even a cheap bump helmet you can use for NVG costs this. I figure worst case I can change the pads to thinner ones for about $15 since my potato is so close to the medium size.

I'll report back on fitment when the helmet arrives. Also I notice Amazon has plenty...plenty of different replacement pad options (sizes, configs, materials, etc) for FAST helmets. I also understand most of the time these budget helmets also have really sucky chin straps, those are cheap enough to upgrade as well.
Helmet arrived today, well packed, looks good, seems solidly built. Tad small for me but workable (a large might border on tad too big...).
Removed top two pads which I probably would have removed anyway and plan to replace with something softer. The pads it comes with are REALLY dense styrofoam (like the type used in automotive inside doors and bumpers). Could be normal, not sure, I was issued a ACH in the early 2000's, had much softer pads in comparison with more give.
Again, no idea of the ballistic rating nor plan to find out ;)
