There is a process before burial, like coating the entire rifle in long term oil or if youre super scared, cosmoline; and vacuum sealing it in a bag, if you bury something without prepping it for long term storage you WILL come back to it being rusted and junk'd.

Don’t bury your Firearms. Most likely dig up rusted junk a little later. If it doesn’t leak the condensation alone will rust them.
