"Hi Point pistols are illegal for sale in the states of Illinois and Minnesota due to "melting point" laws".
That comment right there makes me take note and be extra cautious about these pistols. I don't see other polymer framed firearms having the same law and or warning about them. I bought one of these MANY MANY years ago when they first hit the market and within about 100 rounds, the frame actually split on the seam that connects both sides of the clamshell frame. Hi-point sent me a new one right away but It has made me concerned about purchasing any further handguns from hi-point. With that said, the carbines have been pretty darn nice shooting rifles and eat anything you feed it. I am sure by now the materials and QC have improved over the manufacturing facilities back then.
