Thanks for the info guys! I got the Colt AR15A4 for around $900, so I can’t see me paying this price, but if it comes down to around $950 +/- or so, maybe I’ll add it to my safe. In your opinion, guys, what would you suggest for an inexpensive AR that is super reliable? I’m looking for one I can just run tons of brass through I don’t want to use my others.
Yes, I owned a lot of H & R back in the day, and they were nice then, but I haven’t owned any of the newer production and don’t know if I will is their under Remington. Not saying anything negative about Remington, but back in the day, it had some dam good firearms, but I don’t think it is as good anymore, in my opinion.
Is this the same company as H&R from back in the day ? Colt makes a nice one too.
I'd like to add to and perhaps clarify some info you received in previous replies. JJE Capital Holdings, a private equity firm, acquired the rights to the H&R brand in the bankruptcy auction of Remington Outdoor Company back in 2020. JJE Capital Holdings is the umbrella company over H&R, DPMS, PSA, AAC, Right To Bear and others. You can see there portfolio here: https://jjech.com/portfolio-companies/...
Fairly soon afterward, JJE Capital Holdings acquired NoDak Spud, a company owned by Mike Wetteland and Harlan Ekre which was known and respected for their retro AR and AK receivers as well as a few Ruger 10-22 parts/accessories. Both Mike and Harlan received partial ownership in the H&R brand with this deal. Harlan retired and Mike was named CEO of H&R. I think Mike was a great choice for CEO. He likes old-school wood and steel firearms like the Garand and Mauser. He's even said that Mauser was like crack to him (or some such, don't recall his exact wording).

- Here's the ar15.com forum thread spoke of in the Firearm blog linked above. Mike Wetteland, the CEO and part owner of the H&R brand participates in the discussion (this archived forum thread is a whopping 89 pages long!):

- And here is a 1+ hour YT interview with Mike - He comes across as very intelligent to me - Hopefully the private equity firm, JJE Capital Holdings, doesn't hinder him from his goals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5VwysZp_98...
FWIW, H&R now seems to be owned by PSA (or owned by the company that owns PSA)

"Now under the Palmetto State Armory umbrella, the revived Harrington & Richardson, the company is releasing a small, limited run of H&R M14 rifles."
and

"In the bankruptcy auction of Remington Outdoor Company the company was sold to JJE Capital Holdings, LLC.[5][better source needed] As of September 2020, this sale, however, still needs court approval.[6] JJE currently owns several firearms manufacturing companies, including Lead Star Arms and Palmetto State Armory.[7] Palmetto State Armory social media, website and a recent article in Guns Digest, Palmetto State Armory has been offering semi-automatic variations of H&R's AR-15 type rifles, and will soon be offering a semi-automatic H&R M14 type rifle for sale.[8]"
H&R has been around for well over a century although they've been sold to different other heavy hitter brands like Marlin but they now are owned by the Remington conglomerate, who has acquired Marlin and many other old school manufacturers. I still believe they make a nice A1 rifle that's listed here. It's actually a bit tough to find the correct parts, the chrome lined pencil barrel, an upper with a solid carry handle, a solid stock, and the toughest part, that triangle handguard. So yeah I think this is a good deal.
Ahh now that's just cool! So awesome to see the retro look of the original M16A1. It's actually a bit tough to find the correct style parts needed to build one of these yourself. The triangle handguard and a proper A1 upper with a solid carry handle can be a little tough to find and those who do have offerings charge and arm and a leg. So to find a complete rifle, built in the proper specs at this price ($1400) is not a bad deal really.
This is the normal price for this item.

A bit off topic but, I am sure liking how the members on this app are sharing advice, sharing info and opinions without all the nonsense and fighting that was going on. I just wanted to say thank you to those who are helping each other and having good conversations. Now, let's try to get more deals posted as I am noticing a huge drop in user posted, actual DEALS.
