Avoid this brand! I had one with a combo lock that failed to open with the correct code. I had to cut the cable (2 sec) and pry it open with a screw driver (less than 60 sec) to retrieve pistol. No rapid access and no real security. Gunvault have ignored my attempts to contact them.

I've had one for ~3 years.

I don't really like leaving a gun in my car, but depending on lifestyle decisions and local carry laws, it is something that one may have to deal with.

Mine is chained to the seat rail under my passenger seat. I can reach around, pull it into sight, open it, and have my gun ready in about 7 seconds at best. That would be an eternity if trouble was breaking through my window.

You get what you pay for.

In my opinion, it is an improvement over a glovebox for 4 reasons:
1. It won't let your gun rattle around
2. You can hide it
3. Your passengers won't idly try to open it on a long road trip
4. It is marginally harder to get into than a glovebox, depending on what kind of car you have

The downsides are:
1. 1t's quite slow to open
2. It may slow down a criminal, but not by a lot.

Another downside is that, depending on your style of driving and what is on your floorboards (Carpet vs rubber) it may slide out into the view of your passengers. I added some adhesive traction strips to keep mine in place.

It makes me slightly more comfortable about leaving a low-value handgun in my vehicle, but as soon as I have the money, I'm upgrading to a biometric safe that can be opened more rapidly and is hopefully more secure.
