These things are $500 up to even $900 everywhere else... So how are these just $179 on Amazon? This is definitely one of those situations where I would verify authenticity before buying. Seems fishy to me. Could be a Chinese knockoff being sold as real Garmin. I wouldn't risk it.
I ordered one and it just arrived and is legit, brand new, and in the original packaging. This is a discontinued model and is quite old so I think they’re just clearing them out. Most dealers don’t have them anymore.

Seems to be an amazing price and I do think it is a legit unit but the price difference does warrant a second look to be sure.
FWIW same vendor has it on eBay for the same price. More options for coupons and cashback there. Amazon's CS is better though.
