The Federal 9mm hollow point ammo features a bullet nose profile, nickel-plated case, and high-performance primer. Federal Premium tested the 9mm Luger +P cartridge using a 4-inch barrel. The tests showed that the 124-grain bullet has a muzzle velocity of 1,200 feet-per-second with 396 foot-pounds of energy. Velocity drops to 1,002 fps with 277 ft-lbs at 100 yards. 1200 fps is good velocity for any HP to flower as designed. I prefer 147gr but the velocity makes correct expansion inconsistent. 124 gr will most likely have consistent expansion every time. See YouTuber Tools and Targets
