  • Jon C - Washington I have owned two of the 512s with excellent experiences with both. First off, Eotechs glass and durability is excellent and the donut of death reticle is a standout and is my favorite up close reticle. A great combo with a 512 or any Eotech is a magnifier as the good glass and crisp reticle with a 1moa center dot makes taking longer shots a breeze. One model I tested was made in 2011 and the other a 2017, they had a few external differences but were otherwise identical in quality and function. Both held up well on all of my guns including short barreled .308 AR-10s. They hold zero very well and have held up very well to drops and submersions in mud and water. Some of the downsides are the obvious size and weight (11oz) versus other smaller cheaper red dots that also have 20-50 times the battery life. The Eotechs 1000 hours is pretty low but it isn't designed in the same way or for the same purpose as those other red dots and utilizes very common AA batteries. These are meant to be tough and reliable in more "professional" environments. For being quite tanky optics with great glass they are still high value as well compared to Aimpoints that can cost twice as much.

Current price says “$379 shipped,” but excludes the fact that sales tax will also be added.

If you have an astigmatism I suggest you go see if your a candidate for LASIK. This sight was amazing before LASIK and post LASIK. Yes a great sight if you have an astigmatism but for less than 5 grand every sight that holds zero could be an amazing sight if you get your eyes fixed.

Fun fact: If you have an astigmatism you are probably not seeing colors correctly specifically different shades of white or black. LASIK will change your life.

If you have astigmatism. Buy it. If you might add a magnifier occasionally. Buy it. The 1 moa center for is best one for magnifying.

I have astigmatism. Used to have one of these. It was by far the worst sight I’ve used for my astigmatism. It was like three reticles superimposed on top of each other with about a 10% shift for each. The dot wasn’t horrible, but the ring was unusable for me unless the target was very close.

Finally pulled the trigger on it and bought one... hope they aren’t keeping track on what we spend the stimulus on.... lol....

This is holographic right? So I can project myself to fool the bad guys? Like in Total Recall?

The cheapest I’ve seen the EoTech 512.A65 is $330 (after a mail in rebate), so $400 isn’t bad. It’s also not a big deal, but in regards to the site itself, I think it’s the best attachment for your rifle/shotgun you can find. I was totally blown away with the accuracy of the 1 MOA dot, and the people who talked bad of it were doing so because there used to be a factory flaw. The issue has been remedied and now the military uses this site as its gold standard. Aimpoint pro is right up there alongside the 512, but I prefer EoTech any day of the week.

    This or the Aimpoint Pro?

The Aimpoint is going to have better battery life. My EOTech 512 has been a good optic for me besides battery life. Mine has not experienced any thermal drift issues thankfully. The reticle in the EOTech is faster to pickup than a traditional 2 MOA red dot in my opinion. Both are solid options, just comes down to personal preference.

I’m tired of PSA and the way they have been jacking prices of items with rebates, slowly raising a lot of prices that were on a steady decline, and their recent quality control. All of that mixed with the obvious cash grab move of getting rid of free shipping, I’m done with them. 90% of their “deals” can be had other places and there are plenty of other options out there to replace their brand In my collection. I left a review the other day about an upper and the condition it was in and they deleted all five photos I posted. A week later, still no answer from them as to why.

They jacked up the price $20 in the last few days due to the rebate. Now $379 when 3 days ago it was $359. Gunprodeals has it for 334 with no tax and shipping was around $8.

Also check out the holosun 510c. Sorry Eotech it’s just better. Yes it’s LED vs Holo, but...it’s better and the same price.

Love PSA, but you can get it cheaper from Gensec Armament with same rebate: https://www.gensecarmament.com/products/optics-eotech-512a65-672294512653-2735...
