The Omni Hybrid Maxx features ATI's metal-reinforced polymer upper and lower receivers…which help to reduce weight and increase maneuverability without sacrificing durability! The lower receiver features an over-molded metal insert, which reinforces the buffer tube housing and rear takedown pin. This allows for metal-on-metal contact with both the buffer tube as well as the rear takedown pin, delivering the strength and durability to withstand recoil and constant use.

In fact, the Omni Hybrid lower has been specifically tested to withstand all sorts of use and abuse. The folks at ATI put it through all the pressure and weight-bearing tests, similar to the US Military's testing, and found it to function flawlessly, even after supporting up to 250 lbs. and being run over by an 800-lb. forklift. Then, they ran 2,000 rounds through it without a hiccup.

Both the upper and lower are built from a fiberglass-composite polymer over a zinc metal insert, with extra reinforcements in high-pressure sections
Fully patented inter-lock hammer and trigger pin retainment system, prevents movement during firing
Nano Composite Parts Kit
Railed gas block

I can confirm that the S&W is a pretty decent ar that can usually be had for under $550. It's not my favorite of the platform, but it was a great place to start. The biggest flaw I think it has out of the box is the a2 handguard, first and only thing I've changed on it.

Mine had some gas system problems but after taking care of that and breaking it in I've put 1500 thru it and as long as it's lubed it performs great given I'm no operator and I don't mag dump

You can fire .223 ammo in a 5.56 but not the other way around. 5.56 is a higher pressure round.

Don't forget about Wylde.

Also, from the description, "being run over by an 800-lb. forklift", pics or it didn't happen.

5.56 NATO and the .223 can be fired from the same rifle made for both with the 5.56 being a slightly more powerful round.

5.56 can shoot a .223 because the barrel is rated for 5.56, but not all .223 can shoot a 5.56

Be careful ! I used them for 5 years and every gun ordered was a big hassle! If you want a good smooth transaction go with one of the many other companies. You will save some money and a lot of problems!!

I had one of these a couple years ago. My front takedown pin hole snapped, so that whenever the gun was a certain angle, the front take down pin would slide out from recoil. Very annoying setback, but was fixed easily with a new lower receiver from ATI. It's around 400 bucks, you get what you pay for. Loved the low weight of it too, definitely noticeable compared to my current PSA rifle. I'd say a good first gun to get for someone who isn't going to abuse it.

Why is everyone bashing this rifle? I've never shot one but being all polymer doesnt scare me. MY daughter's S&W M&P .22 rifle is all polymer and has held up just fine. I know there is a difference in .22 and 5.56, but the point of it being all polymer has no effect on me buying or not. I doubt majority of people on here will shoot it enough times to have to worry.

Got mine almost a year now with ZERO issues to date. Added a few upgrades here and there. Will add some pictures on the website if I can.

PLEASED DON"T buy this rifle. The receivers, fire control system, and a number of other components are not Mil-Spec, due to being made from polymer, and/or not meeting dimensional specifications. Mil-Spec stands for the military specifications, and are the detailed requirements our government demands for every component of every weapon they purchase. It insures quality, performance, and compatibility from different contractors, and production runs. Many of the Mil-Spec requirements for the M16 family were adopted commercially for the AR-15. The beauty of owning a AR-15 with Mil-Spec receivers are the thousands of compatible repair parts, components, and accessories that are available.

Colt even admits their ar’s aren’t. Milspec is a made up term to make the customer think he’s getting more

Not true. I have one 223/556 BCG that I interchange with other uppers from different brands and it fits. MIL-SPEC.

If the upper is NOT mil-spec, my BCG is not going to work.

Ordered one. Hope I'm not disappointed. Can't really beat the price for a complete AR platform. I already have a red dot. I just need some back up sights and an ambi selector switch.

Picked up mine at my FFL today! This thing is light. Can't wait to test it out. I spot a defect on there where the barrel meets the upper, a silver substance of some sort that somebody tried to scrape off and scratched the area.

Got a chance to take it to the range. I put about 300 brass rounds through it with no issues. They all went bang. It got warm pretty quickly but cooled down even quicker. The trigger feels nice for what it is. You won't even notice the "not so high quality" as soon as you get used to it. Not saying it's bad but some might argue otherwise. The trigger is very light and feels good for not being flat faced.
