If a polymer lower AR costed half the price...maybe if you only intended to use it for range use, but you can assemble an all metal AR from a complete upper + lower for $350 every day of the week, sometimes sub $300. Also the weight savings isn't there either. Even if longevity was not a concern the pro's vs con's just don't add up. No pro's (comparatively), lots of con's.
Save the plastic for toys. With a completely plastic rifle Including some internal parts like the trigger pack, these are not much more than a safe queen. If you shoot 100's of rounds a year like I do, I do not trust a full plastic AR-15. Too much generated heat and pressure over and over certainly will fail prematurely. This could cause a seriously risky situation. On something like a pistol lower or similar I don't have an issue but as I said I don't rust a complete plastic rifle. For another $50-$100 you can buy an Anderson, Bear Creek Arsenal, PSA, And many other manufacturers that are steel and aluminum receivers.
