Got it today, very nice indeed. Can't wait until the ammo arrives.
Barrel has a cool logo I didn't expect "VooDoo Barrels"
Seems as well made as any of my other high dollar rigs.
Satisfied.....
Why did you decide togo with the odd Caliber, and not the standard round?
Just wanted to check it out really. I own several 5.56 and thought it would be nice to have a gun to take out for 17 cents a round. Had to replace the hammer spring though, had several misfires with a standard spring. Now it goes bang every pull.....
Don't know if you've noticed, but 5.45x39 is still ~17c a round, which is about 1/3 of what .223 goes for. Hell, it's half of what I can find 9mm for. If you want to run a carbine class without paying a few hundred bucks in ammo costs, 5.45x39 is awesome.
I have the featured AA upper in 5.45x39, and it's fabulous. Excellent fit and finish, and you can see how they've really been paying attention to carrier tilt issues lately with their design. No problems at all in actual usage with 7N6, even without installing their "extra-strength hammer spring".
Mags are a bit of a problem - you're using ASC or C-Defense/Products, which are not known for their extreme reliability - but they work well enough in my experience. Much cheaper than AK-74 magazines, ironically.
Not a bad deal. Went ahead and picked one up. Will report quality once received.
Bought one of these last year when 7n6 was still .14 a round. Been very happy with it so far. Some aftermarket parts won't fit because of the gas piston set up (esp handguards) so make sure you buy ones designed for gas piston AR's.
