Cheap and easy to become a member and worth it for the regular deals they have. Membership pays for itself pretty quickly. I recommend becoming a member and customer.

$199.99 for non club members, not a deal.

Join the club for $30 and you will be at $210 ($180 + $30). Joining the club will get you free shipping the first time with no code needed. Now use code SG3666 to get $15 off, for $195 total. Then they will mail you a $15 gift card for next time. Next time you can use the gift card and a code to get free shipping or money off. Gift cards stack with coupons. They also have cash-back from fatwallet.

SG keeps a running total of your savings from being a club member. If you don't save $30 in the year they will refund the difference. But you will save $20 just on this deal.

Yes, you have to play their game, but I don't find bulk ammo cheaper anywhere else.

I'll just sit and wait for someone to price it right. SG has had it cheaper this year without paying extra for the membership. Around $169 for non club members during the summer.

Agree with you. Let all this panic buyers do the heavy lifting. I got 440 rounds from PSA with free shipping for the same price as "member" price from SG.
In summer prices will drop. Panic wave is dying out.

I've ordered two crates of this in the last couple of months for my Mosin-Nagant. Great round and one of the cheapest to shoot atm. Sportsmansguide is great. I've ordered so much from them over the years. You can always find coupons on gun.deals to cut the shipping to zero or better. Will be ordering more this year.

I ignore the backorder dates. If you can order it on the website chances are you'll get it in before the date they list.

Mine was expected to be back in stock May 1st but it ended up shipping in a week from me ordering. 880 rounds is quite heavy in a wood crate :D

I am very happy with them. I have ordered many times from them and they are among the best in handling orders. I think some folks get upset with the long shipping delays indicated on the website, but the trick is to ignore those. Since the panic, every shop is being extra cautious on shipping dates to prevent disappointments. SG however delivers faster than anybody else and I have ordered from most major online gun and ammo stores in the last few months so I know. For example on these rounds, I ordered them on 2/27 and was initially told they would be shipped on March 15th. In fact, they were shipped on March 1st and will arrive on March 6th as per UPS. This is typical. Also, they usually have the best prices on ammo, not always but very often. I paid $169 for 880 rounds including shipping. That is the best deal out there as I have checked. Some sellers have better advertised prices but gouge you on shipping, SG does not and I appreciate that.

To determine if its "steel core" or not, you need to look at the Cyrillic alphabet characters on the container.
The "ЛПС" is what people in the US translate as "LPS", it is light ball ammo steel core.

Here's a diagram of how to read the spam-can markings:
http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/AP0022.jpg...

Here is a link with a chart of Cyrillic characters and what they mean:
http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinAmmoID01.htm#Packaging...

Note that even if it is "not steel core"the bullet can still be attracted to a magnet because alot were made with bi-metal jackets.

I have never seen a "spam-can" of ammo that was not "ЛПС" (steel core) so I can't say for sure how a "lead core" ammo spam-can would be marked.

The only "lead core" ammo I have seen was not in a "spam can", it was sealed lead tin boxes instead (e.g. from The-Armory). In that case it was only marked "Л" as the bullet type.

Not in stock. SG states it won't be available until May 1st.

I had a crate of this stuff come in today. The tins were pristine, and there was a can opener in the crate. Date stamp was 1982, factory was Frunze (1960). Haven't opened either tin up yet, but I have high expectations.

I love Sportsmans Guide!! Free shipping day...Ordered 4x440 tins. There was a small upcharge (<$12) on shipping however, with that much weight.

should have done two orders to avoid the extra shipping charges.

Yeah, I thought about that, but I've had SG coupons tell me that I couldn't use them more than once, so I didn't do it that way. If you made 2 orders and used that free shipping coupon twice, then lesson learned on the free shipping ones. Thx

2 emails plus 2 accounts = 2 good deals (Something to think about in the future)
3 emails with 3 different accounts = 3 good deals.
(You may have to have more than one membership which increases fees but if you order enough in one years time?)

I've been sequestered at work all week and am way behind on the news of the week regarding gun grabber news. Does anyone have any reliable information on how Obama's 23 executive orders may effect, if at all, importation of surplus ammo?

Im rabid pro 2nd amendment and following closely and i'd net it as......

1) The draconian weapons ban and magazine limits he handed off to Congress and there isn't a flying F chance that it will pass the house and most likely not even the senate (due to a handful of democratic senators in pro gun states)

2) His executive orders are feel good stuff (do a study of this, do a study of that) etc.

3) Big thing was no exec order on any kind of ammo

I'm a happy camper

The Obama mass media cheerleading team all talk like something will happen in congress because they don't want to take the shine off their dear leader. Just ignore their squawking.... it will go down in flames.

After the press conference I ended up cancelling some orders that I had in the pipeline when I was fearing an ammo ban. I'm going to wait for the prices to hopefully come down a bit.

OTOH, 2014 is only 2 years away and you should ideally be buying slowly to reach a desired level of stock by then.

Lastly, throw some money to the NRA or GOA. and join one or both. They have guys that live in the sausage factory of legislation and do the work that you don't have time for and wouldn't want to get near.

thanks for the update, given all the news sounds like about as good of an outcome as we could hope for. Doesn't sound like New Yorkers fared quite as well. Current GOA member but I unfortunately can't support the NRA, they continue to drive the mythology of an incorporated Constitution. GOA flirting with this too a little too much for my comfort

The backorder shenanigans of this company do not go un-noticed. Sportsmans Guide has a resellerating of 2 out of 10 with approx 150 reviews Caveat Emptor.

I'm not so sure it's "shenenigans" they're up to, but rather, I think their website/cart system isn't the best. Sometimes, following a several month old link from here you can find a product quite a bit cheaper than the same product found by using their search feature. Also, the coupon system sucks. You need to keep track of which coupons you use. If you try to use a coupon more than once, their online cart system will complete the transaction but then someone call in a day or two to let you know you've already used that coupon.

When I ordered this case of 7.62X54R ammo, their website said they could not ship ammo to my zip (in FL). I've ordered ammo from them in the past with no problems. I called their customer service, spoke to smoeone from Murica within a few seconds and he processed my order over the phone. I little inconvenient...but no problem.

BTW...received the case communist fury yesterday. I just love busting into them cans. You can alomost smell the oppression :)

I almost tend to agree with you that it's more like website status incompetence versus willful deception. Both times I called the phone was answered quickly by real people who seemed not to be decptive. Rather it seemed that the inventory tracking system and forecasting is just horrendously stupid. In normal times if you can possibly accept long wait times and imprecise deliveries than it may be worth the savings. However in today's wacked out business/political climate where you are trying to forecast the actions of the communist-in-chief or your state legislature, the helter skelter product status and delivery is frustrating.

Was told it wouldn't arrive until May 1st. Order is processed and waiting shipment tomorrow. I have ordered four 880 round crates in the past month, this will be an additional two. This is by far the best price around @ $170-$175 shipped for 880 rounds in a crate/two spam cans (while adding a few 'goodies' to make the total to $175). Can't beat 19 cents per round/shipped. 5280 rounds ordered in the past month. Don't wait to purchase, this ammunition like everything else will skyrocket once the popularity is gained and price is noticed by the general public. Sportsman's Guide never fails to deliver on great deals!

I bought a case of this stuff at $119.99 and $16.90 delivered to KY for a total of $136.89. Great plinking ammo and not a single FTF. Shipping will differ for you but give it a shot. http://www.the-armory.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/product1793.html...

I purchased from them about 6 months ago or so, shipped price to me from the Armory is $154 so about $5 cheaper than SPG. However this is literary World War II ammo, from 40' and 50", while Sportsman's guide has a lot newer and nicer 70', 80' maybe even 90's production. Both productions work fine for me, I use the nicer ammo in my collectible rifles, and the cheaper ammo in my beat up Nagants...

also, it's lead core vs steel core, and although it says at SPG that it does not come with a can opener, my order came with one.

Which one uses steel core? and regardless of which store you buy from, they are both going to be corrosive, right?

Steel core is from Sportsman's Guide, the Armory ammo is lead core, they are all corossive
