Got my shipping confirmation - should have it on Tuesday.

Thought I'd mention it since it sounds like they dragged their feet on some previous orders of it. Sounds like they're stepping up.

anyone wanna sell a tin(440) for $100? paypal

SOG has it at 45 cents a round shipped. It's quite a bit more but if your going to buy and missed out, this is the best I've found. This is with shipping to my area(Memphis) so may be more may be less in your are by a penny or two a round...

I had the worst timing. If I would have waited a day to order from the other guyz, I would've saved a shit load.

I ordered a crate at the lower price back on Feb 17 or so. A week later it still hadn't shipped, no backorder notice or anything. I emailed them and they said it would arrive 3-1-16 and they would charge when it shipped.

STILL no shipment to me on this product, yet they were taking new orders????

I've been a long time customer with SG and have a ton of orders with them and not a single issue until now. I'm pretty pissed. I emailed them again just now, we will see what they say

There's several new reviews from people who received theirs in the last week, I pointed that out to them

Has anyone got theirs that ordered them last month for the 189 price?

I would give them a call. I ordered some at 189 on 3/8 and just called them and they said that I had some spoken for and that it should ship out tomorrow. I would call and make sure your order got submitted.

I'm a little miffed at SG.

Thanks for this deal! I have a feeling this is drying up for the long haul.

I had JUST gotten an email from them for the $285. I'm an amazing customer for them and they tried to exploit me.

Anyone know if you get the crate and/or opener with this?

In one of the reviews someone says they ordered the crates from them so am guessing yes on crates and if same product as other sites, it should come with opener but for this price, i'd open with my teeth...

think we can all agree the 285 price is bullshit and this 189 is what it should be.

I had selected notify me a couple days ago on this product and dunno if coincidence or what but now is available. I just got another email but for the $285 price.

This is must be the "oops we just found this old stock hiding somewhere" stock while it was selling for $289 but ain't no body buying them. Now the company needs funding and offer this reasonable price. I don't care, if it's good price, I will buy them!

It shows that they are back in stock today. I ordered yeaterday at the 189 price and it said out of stock but now shows in stock. Paid the $289 a month ago.

Damn, my direct deposit is due to go in today sometime and is usually in by now. I have a M39 being delivered tomorrow and could really use this deal!

They refunded me the difference from the crates I paid $285 for. They gave me the $189.99 price. Call or email them. They will honor the 1 day flash sale price. Whoooooooo

That really blows. Now the one prices 284/299 also shows OOS. So either there was a quick run at the reduced prices or they shut down all further sales until they figured out what was wrong.

$47.49 a month for four months... Daaa soo tempting! I really really don't need more of this stuff tho...

lol wut...

now this is more realistic. WTF was up with pricing it $100 higher than this recently? Hopefully nobody panicked and bought at that price.

I think they have two different prices on their website. If you go to the website and search, you only find the 284/299 price. If you have the link (now posted above) you get the lower price. They technically have different item numbers but both say they are in stock. It is like the links on their website likely have their current pricing but the old link is still active but not displayed on their website. I suspect that they will fix the problem soon. I purchased on Monday at the 199 price using the old link. I waited to post this until I had a shipping information and it was on its way. It is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow.

I am not sure what is going on.

If you go to the link above in this post it is 299/284. If you go to the link in this old post it is 199/189. I purchased it at the 199 price and it has been shipped.

Holy hell what happened to prices on this. $90 for 440 less than a year ago from SG.

This deal is is for 880. That's $95 per tin of 440.

The endless supply has come to an end.

0 votes
0 votes

No the supply has not ended. The round is still in common use by many nations today. Only problem is many of the sanctions now with Russia/Ukraine making it more difficult to acquire. Prices will drop back to normal $90 again when demand goes down. I have seen this specific round fluctuate a lot over the last 5 years but it always returns with in $5 to $10 of what it was previously.

Yeah I guess so. I don't shoot my mosins much, so my 4k rounds will have to do.

Flange: I am sure many here agree with you. When an item was listed "in stock" by a company, that company advertised it it was in stock and ready to ship when payment is confirmed. If order was unavailable and customers were told its back-ordered, then it should honor the price when it's back in stock, that's just common sense and ethical business practice. Stop using this shady advertisement tactics like the one you guys did with the 1000 rounds Magtech 9mm, what a retard!

Buy it cheap and stack it deep. The name of the game. Today I would not pay this amount for surplus ammo. I am glad I bought 11 cases when it was .17 and the 7 cases I inherited fr4om a buddy when he moved out of state, plus I rarely ever shoot my mosins, I should be ok for the next lifetime. The major problem I have is where to put it. Does anyone know if API rounds from 1974 would be safe and still work. I have 1 case I haven't opened yet. curious but really have no need for it. Mosins and this ammo was about the only things available to buy during the panic. Now I find myself with 11 mosins and all this ammo I never use. I guess its almost time to sell,

I got 4 crates delivered yesterday. Prices have gone up, but that is due to supply.
All you crybabies wondering why the price isn't lower need to suck it up. Either you believe in capitalism or you want price controls. Which is it?

The first shipment [20' container] arrived in port last week, cleared US Customs, trans-loaded out of the container, into a 40' truck trailer.
Should be at SG by Friday.
This is the only lot of 54r we have been offered in just over one year.
Not that we are aware of every offering from every source, but we try.
All of the "low hanging fruit" is gone, nothing in the old "iron curtain" countries.
We will be in Europe for Feb-March on a buying trip.
I have been in many [huge] ex-commie warehouses that were packed as far as the eye could see, now empty
Just like Ken said, there is a reason that Century is no longer importing.
Add the risk of some idiot making a [one] pistol that shoots 54r, and its all over, same as 5,45.
Two fellow importers had 5,45 in the mid-Atlantic, bought and paid for, when their approved import permits were cancelled, with no warning.
Now what do you do?
There are several countries that still have 54r in surplus stock that we know of, 2 of the 3 are on the State Departments bad boy list, the other needs every round for their own war.
Most modern MILITARY production 54r has a hardened [not soft] steel core, and when it rotates out to "surplus" status, we can not import it, its armor piercing.
As mentioned, every army rotates their ammo stocks from active to surplus.
Problem is, most of the ex-commie countries [that sold surplus 54r] are now NATO and/or EU countries, and have no use for commie caliber ammo for their modern NATO weapons.
Most EU countries [seen this] destroy their surplus ammo, rather than sell it.
Just the facts sir.

Hi Bob,

What about all of us who we ordered this ammo when it was cheap and have been waiting on back order for a year or so? You don't honor those sales when the ammo is actually back in stock? That may be good dollar wise short term, but it's this BS that caused me to cancel my membership and I will not buy from SG again.

Raise the price on current sales, that's your choice, but you also willingly entered into an agreement to sell at a lower price and you aren't honoring that commitment.

It's not even a money question at this point. It's a question of who I want to support and how they run their business.

While I feel for you, and I've been in your position in the past with SG, I've come to realize that retailers have different SKU's for their product. When you buy X, and that's not on hand, that's what they owe you. Unfortunately, all the different makes of 54R have a different SKU so while they have this particular make/year/quantity of 54R is in stock it isn't what you ordered. As such, they don't need to fill back orders with it.

You ordered single cans and these are crates. Plus SG probably paid much more for this shipment. I understand your dilemma, but it is what it is. I had a backorder of 22lr for 2 years with SG that they ultimately cancelled. Do I blame them? No! It was a function of the market. Keep waiting for your $90 spam cans, I doubt you will ever get them. I saw spam cans at the local gun show for $220 each. To some this price may seem high, but I guarantee you will regret not buying at this price in 5 years. To each his own.

I get that they are paying more. What I am saying is that I ordered 440 rounds cans when they were "in stock", and they said, in essence, " just wait and we'll get them to you".

I am not arguing that the market hasn't gone up, but think of it like a futures contract. I agreed to buy now at this price and SG agreed to deliver it later. Fine. Time passes and prices go up, that doesn't negate the contract. Hell, that's why I ordered it in the first place. What if a farmer backed out of a futures contract because the value of his corn went up? Even better, what if the farmer came back and said "I can't sell you those two bushels of corn at the price we agreed to, but you can have this double bushel for 50% more." It doesn't happen, because nobody would ever deal with that farmer again.

Well, I ain't buying from this farm anymore.

LOL @ people who thought this stuff would still be the same price when someone got more in.

1. Take your tinfoil hat off, they haven't been sitting on the stuff.
2. They most likely had to pay more for it than before
3. Part of the price increase is certainly because of supply and demand.

That's capitalism. Deal with it.

Holy crap, i paid 300 last year for my mosin + 800 rounds... all the hype about it being cheap to shoot appears to be over

2 votes

Why would you just shoot 20 rounds at a time?

0 votes

Well that's what I've done the couple times I have taken my Mosin Nagant out. I balance shooting time with the other rifles that need love too... The Mosin is a ton of fun to shoot I've done serious damage to bowling pins with it :) Anyway no particular reason for the limit, but at this rate 880 will last some time.
