Rumors & LWRC, Thank you for the feed back and info it was helpful, Merry Christmas!

Then IMHO if that’s the case it should be a lot less expensive, but allow me to clarify, in my opinion I can’t see the big price differences in AR’s they are built about the same. “ Talking about name brand” Ruger- S & W - Fn- Colt etc. Why would one be a lot more then another, just because of the Maker ? Thank you Have a Merry Christmas

Sorry, I was a little vague in my comment,
rumors comment is correct, let me add some more perspective on why this is more expensive, First, and probably the most expensive thing on here is the CHF chrome lined barrel, whereas your Smith and Wesson and Ruger and Anderson will probably have something cheaper like, malonate, phosphorite, nitride, Chrome Molly Vandom, (i’m not sure if I spelled them all right but U get the gist) all those are fine for plinking around, It’s just when you’re going to combat you want something better for higher round count,
Second, that Knight’s armament RAS hand guard is not the cheapest but very high-quality,
Third, it has a 14.7 inch barrel with a pinned and welded muzzle device to better authenticate the weapon that you’re cheaper brands don’t come with,
Fourth, if you read the description, it says, collectors series, (they have an M16 version also) so therefore it’s gonna have a higher value down the road,
Those Ruger’s, Anderson’s,
Smith & Wesson‘s aren’t built for authenticity or heavy use, they’re designed for fun, once in a lifetime use for self-defense if ever, and plinking, now if you’re going for an end of the world survival rifle or combat weapon for “or if” World War III hits, then I would probably go with something a little bit higher quality then those mentioned above, I hope this gave you a little bit better perspective. If you have any questions let me know, I will answer what I can, have a merry Christmas also.

With respect and assuming you are honestly seeking info, price differences are related to many elements, just as in other commodities...component quality, assembly, purpose, performance, demand, availability, collector value, resale, etc.....just as someone may wisely ask a mechanic about the qualities of a particular new car so too we may seek the advice of an armorer or gunsmith or specialist if comparing an AR. There are many differences between this FN and an Anderson which "could" justify the price. Between other brands and builds the lines are blurred. And I haven't even mentioned the emotional element. Thankfully we still have the ability to choose.

Not being a smart arse or anything, but when the Smith & Wessons were here for sale @ $499 about a week ago why would some one pay this price for this? Thank you

Because FN is now supplying US military with new M4s and parts.
