The Ruger Harrier is a modern AR-pattern semi-automatic rifle developed as the successor to Ruger's AR-556 line, designed to deliver improved durability, modularity & performance in a lightweight sporting rifle platform. Built with forged 7075-T6 aluminum upper & lower receivers, the Harrier features a free-float handguard with M-LOK accessory slots and a Picatinny top rail that allows shooters to mount optics, lights or other accessories easily. The rifle uses a 16.10" government-profile barrel with a black nitride finish and 1:8" twist rifling, paired with a threaded muzzle & A2 flash hider for compatibility with suppressors or muzzle devices. Depending on configuration, furniture includes modern components such as a Magpul MOE-K2 grip & Magpul DT adjustable stock or classic A2/M4-style furniture. In operation, the Harrier uses a gas-operated rotating-bolt system with a mid-length or carbine-length gas configuration depending on the model, ensuring smooth cycling & reliable performance across a wide range of ammunition. Ruger engineered the platform with mil-spec components such as a GI-style single-stage trigger, staked gas key, forward assist, dust cover and brass deflector, emphasizing dependable function and compatibility with common AR-pattern parts.
