The Beretta U22 Neos is an American-made, single-action, semi-automatic, .22 Long Rifle handgun with a slide blow-back mechanism. In 2002, the U22 Neos was released, while the U22 Neos DLX, a deluxe variant with both aesthetic and functional upgrades, was introduced in 2003. To turn the handgun into a long gun, Beretta introduced the U22 Neos Carbine Kit in 2004. The DLX model's final year of production was 2007. Some U22 Neos models were reintroduced in September 2010 due to a minor potential that the handgun may fire when the safety was engaged. Currently, their official website states that the Neos models are no longer in production. The Neos has a total capacity of 10+1 rounds. The handgun is equipped with interchangeable 4.5, 6, or 7.5-inch barrels finished in blued steel or stainless steel. Models made of blued steel are offered with barrels that measure 4.5 or 6 inches long. The stainless steel barrel and slide of the Inox versions are the only things that set them apart from other variants. Every barrel has a built-in Weaver-style rail for optics or other attachments. The pistol's barrel is exposed since it lacks a full-length slide.
