The JP SAUER SL-5 12GA 3′′ 28′′ is the company's first semi-automatic shotgun and the best example of a semi-auto eye-catcher. The inner values are appealing, much like the exterior qualities: All of the technical top elements that go into a shotgun of the highest caliber are incorporated, from recoil pad to muzzle. In keeping with Sauer's slogan, "Guns for Generations", the trigger and every component of the system are made of metal. With a weight of just under 6.3/4 pounds, the Sauer SL5 is a remarkably well-balanced shotgun when held in the hand. The shotgun has an aluminum frame, a 3-inch maximum ammunition capacity, and five flush mounted chokes (Cylinder, Imp Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified and Full). The gun's pull is just a hair under 14.1/2 inches long. The chrome-lined barrel has been tested for use with steel shot ammunition. The trigger for the direct pull is set at 5.1/2 pounds. A satin finish is applied to all metal components, considerably reducing glare and preventing rust.
