The Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22 is a less expensive variant of the S&W M&P 15 semi-automatic rifle that shoots .22 LR caliber. Unlike M&P 15, the M&P 15-22 is blowback-operated, with polymer-made receivers and magazines, intended for recreational shooting and small game hunting. It has lower recoil and it’s not as loud as a standard AR-15, which makes it perfect for beginners, while a safety and bolt lock operate in the same way as an AR-15. There are 25 and 10-round detachable box magazines available for the M&P 15-22. It also features a rail for additional accessories, detachable sights, and a folding stock. The lower receiver has a standard M&P 15 trigger system, while the upper receiver features the simplified bolt without a gas system, charging handle, and barrel. There are around 20 different models in the M&P rifle line, and the newest variations feature a Magpul MOE Slim Line stock, M-LOK system, and MBUS folding sights. Models with a threaded barrel that accepts a silencer are extremely quiet and suitable for hunting. Overall, with so many available variants, this rifle is one of the favorite choices among civilians and different types of shooters.
