The latest from the G27 line, the Glock 27 Gen 5, is another successful Glock attempt to combine a small, subcompact-sized frame with a hard-hitting cartridge. Like its predecessors, it’s chambered in .40 S&W ammo that delivers great stopping power, which makes it popular for personal-defense situations. With Gen 5 update, the Glock 27 just became even better. The finger grooves on the pistol’s grip have been removed and the texture is redesigned to provide a better grasp. The slide has rear serrations and additional front serrations. Other standard Gen 5 features include Glock’s Marksman Barrel for increased accuracy, an ambidextrous slide stop lever, an nDLC finish, a flared mag-well, the modular backstrap and beavertail system, and a reversible magazine catch. As a result of the innovative ambidextrous slide release, the slide width of the Gen 5 model is a bit bigger compared to the previous generation. Integrated with its Gen 5 redesign, the G27 is an excellent choice for a backup gun because it combines excellent stopping power with a very small size.
