Eotech G45 5x Magnifier
Hey, everybody, welcome back to gun.deals. On the table today we’re going to look at the EOTECH 5x Magnifier. Let’s get this review started.
Alright, guys, so we have the flip to side EOTECH magnifier, I think this combo is so iconic, it’s just when I think magnifier and red dot this is the combination that I think it just works for me. Love it, love it, love it. Ok, so, what we’re gonna do is I’m gonna change the camera angle out, we’ll put this down on the table so we can give you guys a nice close look up at it.
Alright, so let’s take a look at it we have the EOTECH magnifier and then we have an EXPS 3.0.

Let me pop this off so we can take a nice close look at it. Ok, so it does come with standard QD mount that’s been on previous magnifier models which I’m a huge fan of, I think this is the best system on any magnifier out there right now, solid mounting system, excellent quality and construction, very positive, when you turn that and it locks you know it’s locked until you want to move that back and you lock it in place like so and locking in place.

We have some branding right here, obviously this is the new style EOTECH logo which changed a couple of years ago on either side. We have an adjustable diopter at the back right here, which was really nice for aging eyes like mine and then we have our adjustments here. These adjustments are not going to affect anything on your red dot if you’re using this behind an EOTECH or whatever you may be using it behind off, all you’re doing is when you look through this and the reticle is not centered in your magnifier this is what these are for, you’ve got your up and down, left and right and it’s just to simply shift the reticle to it’s exactly when you want it to be in your magnifier.

With these turns there’s no clicks around light, it’s just a solid, smooth movement, there is no clicks or anything like that, but again this is just for the adjustment and they work great as I said, very smooth.
Alright, and then we have this kind of rubber jacket on here like as you say comes off if you want to, it’s just like a protective cover on there, very similar to the original EOTECH magnifier. Now, if you compare this to the original EOTECH magnifier, not the one that’s the new one that’s shorter, just the original one, this actually comes in approximately the same length at 3.9 inches and this actually weights in at 12.8 ounces for this magnifier. So, there is a lot of similarities to this one. To the old one obviously this one has 5x over the 3x of the old one and I think the 5x is a real game changer being able to say up to more distance getting that positive identification or being able to take the occasional longer range shot with this magnifier, for me is a huge help. Again, if you’re not needing to use this at the time, you know, maybe you’re out doing something else, you’re like ‘I don’t need the magnifier’, just pop it off, stick in your pocket or something like that and then you can reattach it when you need it.

Let’s talk about eye relief, the eye relief, if you’re looking about 2.5 inches you’ve got to get relatively close to the magnifier to get the full field of view but that is pretty standard with any magnifier out there. You don’t have to use just these optics behind an EOTECH, you can actually put this behind an Aimpoint or something like that as long as you get the right height mount you can use this magnifier with pretty much any red dot that you want, again as long as the actual height of the red dot obviously fits with the height of the magnifier.

So, do I recommend the EOTECH 5x magnifier?
100% yes, I think the magnifier still has a place in the gun world for sure. I think with the new 5x it’s a bit of a game changer for magnifiers before, you know, you’re looking at 3x and whatever, but having that extra magnification out to 5x now, again in such a short compact package, I think it’s awesome. So, I’m a huge fan, I think there’s definitely pros and cons to this system. I love the flip to side mount, it’s nice and secure, put it back, I’m ready to go so close up shooting, bang, bang, bang, ‘What’s that out there?’ or need to take long range shot just flip it over, very quick to get that 5x. Again, and if you’re not looking to use it just take the QD mount, take it off, stick in pocket or something like that, if you don’t need it at that time.

I think there’s some really big advantages to the magnifier, quality construction is awesome as you would expect, I think it’s really cool.
