With the introduction of their M2.0 line of polymer framed, striker fired pistols, Smith & Wesson addressed the one big complaint that gun buyers had about the M&P line: the trigger. As we’ve mentioned in previous reviews of both the full-size and compact

Love my Shield. Apparently the trigger does vary from one to the other, especially when new. I must have gotten one of the good ones, as mine is a pretty smooth 6lb 2oz. Got it from PSA a few months ago. Yes, they took 8 days to ship, but they warn you of that in advance, or at least they did when I bought mine.

Here's a good video comparing the M&P Shield Vs. M&P 9c.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hERsGIcxQMY...

It's actually pretty impressive to see how small the "big" 9c is. Tough call. Especially when you throw the LC9 and the "Baby" Glock into the mix. Love my M&P PRO too.
I find the best way to decide problems like this is by buying whichever one goes on sale for way under avg. retail first :).

And here're a few pics [from GlockTalk]

I purchased a Shield from PSA last week and they took a week to ship it.

No big deal as I wasn't in a hurry, just FYI.

Finally picked mine up from my FFL last night. This is my first SW and I was afraid it wasn't going to meet my quality and fit/finish standards. I tell you what, I am in love with this thing. My preference is always full size, I dislike compacts and this is my first sub compact.. For the purpose of conceal, this thing is the perfect compromise for me. I wouldn't want any smaller. It's actually a hair bigger than I was imagining, but I love it. The pistol arrived flawless which is important to me... I don't like scratches or marks if I am not the one who caused them. I love the 2 mag options it comes with. The pistol is very attractive and feels good in the hand even for its small size.

The trigger pull is a weight I am comfortable with for a carry gun, but it's going to be hard to get tight groups with it. The safety is very positive and intuitive for me.

The trigger initially felt like crap. I found that that firing pin block was causing a real sandy feel. A ton of dry firing and putting some lube on the block and a couple friction points on the trigger bar has smoothed it out a ton and now the break is starting to crispen up quite a bit. Aside from the heavy trigger weight for carry, I like the trigger characteristics better than my glocks.

What I do not like at all, is the trigger safety. I would prefer a glock style trigger safety. This MP trigger safety pivots too low, and where I naturally pull the trigger doesn't disengage the trigger safety fully and I feel it scrape the frame until I adjust my hold and lower my trigger finger.

I bought one for $600 on GB back then and am not bothered at all. I just hope that doesn't upset you. I really like my Shield.

Here it is folks... In writing, proof ignorance is bliss... $600 for a shield...and before you try using the "can afford defense", I can "afford" to flush $200 down the fucking toilet too, doesn't mean I'm stupid enough to do it.

Hey, I heard Cabella's has some bulk .22 for $60 a brick, better grab your "partner" Shraven and take advantage of that free in store pick up...lol

Actually I consider your comment proof that ignorance is truly bliss.... You basically called a person stupid because they chose to spend $200 more for a product that you FEEL its worth. LOL! Maybe you should get your hand out of his pocket, and worry about your own cash. Just a suggestion. BTW. Good deal on this pistol.

Thanks for posting! This is a great price. With everything going down right now, I feel like this might hit low 300s soon. But, just in case it doesnt, I just ordered one now :) I used the money saved from the great price to add that Streamlight Polytac LED for $35. I have a couple the smaller version of that light and they are just AWESOME lights. I will keep this big one in my desk at the shop.
