Much more than a huge, double-stack magazine capacity, the new Remington RP9 embodies our engineers’ commitment to shootability — designed end-to-end to deliver a level of shooter control and accuracy superior to every full-sized polymer-framed handgun on the market. So much so, it’d be a design marvel with a fraction of the capacity, but with 18+1 rounds at your absolute command, it equips you for the most demanding personal defense scenarios.

Finally the status updated “Your submission has been received, and is waiting for processing.”

Same. Shows waiting for processing for me as well...

Update:

Different Remington product (RM380) for my rebate submission, but the status updated today. Now states "Your submission has been received, and is waiting for processing." so this is a good sign that things are moving reasonably well now.

Lolz...... Gotta love all the neglected boys coming here to threadcrap.

Alright, took mine out today and tried to put 100 rnds of 115g Independence thru. I succeeded in 90 thru...ten were discarded since the rounds tore themselves up trying to feed... But! I've not given up yet. It fed 100% when loading mags to 10 only. Though there were 2-3 eject fails at that point (fired case sitting on extractor completely ignored the ejector). So I'll keep working on it a little until I get it reliable, or send it to Rem (assuming they are still in business)... Peace!

Backordered? THIS pistol? Really?
After all the trash talk and lack luster reviews about this pistol, it's sold out?

Of course, if the price is low enough. Look at the after rebate price. Right or wrong, the demand will be there when the price drops enough as this isn't really that bad of a gun. The worst reviews were on Remington's R51; that is the pistol that really knocked down Remington's reputation, not this one. This one received mixed reviews with many being positive (still not exactly confidence inspiring, I know). But it is worth every penny at the 180ish price after rebate.

Check out Hickok45's review on this on youtube if you'd like to educate yourself some. It shot quite reliably and he had a lot of good stuff to say about it.

So what are the odds of ever seeing that rebate from Remington?

Pretty good, although that is a fair question. The Remington name is going to still be around, even after a bankruptcy (large companies typically survive bankruptcies, like Colt, who survived their bankruptcy).

The Remington image has been tarnished (and rightfully so) but they will still exist a year from now, and 25 years from now. It is a shame that the Freedom group's cost cutting measures almost ruined the company. After they got rid of their idiotic CEO Robert Nardelli (who also ran Home Depot and Chrysler into the ground) they have largely fixed the problems, but it came too late to completely save their reputation.

I personally think the rebates will go through but I don't blame anyone for hesitating or deciding not to buy if they are worried about the rebate. Caveat Emptor, after all.

You're right about the Remington brand. It's iconic and it will live on in some way shape or form. However, these guns will likely be repriced lower in 2018. Maybe much lower. Is the RM380 worth $250 when I can pick up an LCP for $169? Is the RP1 worth $299 when I can pick up the Walther Creed for $259? These rebates are fairly good deals, but they simply get these guns priced to where they should be.

They could be repriced next year, but I doubt they will be lower than the current after rebate price,. You aren't comparing retail prices to retail prices or discounted/after rebate prices to the same. The LCP has been replaced by the LCP II, so the current version is what you should be comparing. The RP9 is 199 after rebate but typically sells for 299, and the Walther Creed usually isn't 259; it usually sells for the 300 range or more.

You seem to be assuming that Remington offers equivalent handgun value. They do not. You mention the LCP II. That gun is currently selling for $207 @ Rural King. The LCP-II is a better product than the RM380. Also, you don' run any risk associated with rebates. Walther Creed and LCP II prices have been dropping all year. This is because these guns is relatively new and consumers are reaping the benefits of the "Trump slump". I don't see that changing. Remington handguns are more comparable to Taurus handguns, but even there, it can be argued that Taurus offers better value.
If you simply need to have an RP1 for $199, and are willing to assume the risk, then by all means go for it. All I'm saying is that, with first-lien creditors at risk of receiving 35 cents on the dollar, you may regret not buying a Walther or a Ruger rather than a Remington.

I'd say the only real concern here is whether or not you can get the gun in shipped and in your possession in time to make the dead line... I think the risk of not getting your rebate is fairly small even if they are in financial trouble.

I seriously doubt the gun is so bad as to not be worth a gamble at sub 200.

The more I look at it the more I'd jump on one if it wasn't for the back order, Given my past experiences with buying over the internet I'd recommend anyone who's gun does not ship by say Dec 6th cancel.

anything past that and you're really rolling the dice I think.

Maclan5, I'm not making any assumptions or stating anything other than what my posts say. Your response is a little bizarre. That gun prices have been dropping across the board this year (agreed, they have) simply doesn't support your argument. The pricing info in my post is correct...maybe you need to read it again to understand what I am saying? You are interpreting it rather oddly.

Remington is going to still be around 20 years from now. I personally think the rebates will come through. Pricing likely isn't going to drop any lower than what the current after rebate pricing reflects.

It could, but if you think otherwise, okay---that is fine.

My apologies if I misunderstood. My thinking is the LCP is more comparable to the RM-380 than the LCP II. Respectfully, I don't agree that Rebate timing is the only risk. The bigger question is why take any risk when we may likely visit these prices again? A recent example of this is the highly rated Walther PPS which I picked up at screaming deal of $399 with a $100 rebate just a few months ago. Prices dropped immediately after the rebate and are $299 right now. LOL! I anticipate something like this will happen here, especially if Remington is still around (which hopefully they will be)

Its all good. It is unknown what the prices will do in the future. Your Walther rebate example is a good one, but Remington hasn't really done that with their past rebates. I think they are more likely to just extend the rebates themselves and then eventually go back to their regular pricing (although I agree they may drop their retail prices a bit...but only when rebates expire). I say this because I have watched a couple of rebate cycles on the Remington 1911s. Just my guess though.

Coincidentally, I own both an LCP and an RM380 and they are surprisingly similar in quality and size. I do like the Ruger a touch better though, mostly due to it having a slightly more refined trigger. The RM380 is better than I expected; it and the Remington 1911 are the winners out of Remington's handgun lineup. The 1911s look and feel suspiciously like the old Para Ordnance line that Remington bought out. Awesome 1911s.

Hilarious that they spin informed consumers not buying garbage as Americans not buying guns at all.

No doubt. If that were the case, we would be seeing many more bankruptcies throughout the industry. The moral of the story here is that you reap what you sow.

Wow black friday has a double meaning this year for Rem.. That is a grimm read for sure.

I'd hate to see Rem. go under even though I don't own any of their guns and short of the .380 hitting 100AR don't have any plans to start.

That might explain the short rebate postmark dates after the end period.. trying to drum up as much business as possible while honoring as few rebates as possible..

most are 30days after end period but rem's is just a hair over 2 weeks (at least on their ammo buckets) that's the sort of time frame you usually see on budget electronic.

It is unfortunate. Remington is a historic brand that has been woefully mismanaged. Maybe they sell off the assets to someone who cares enough to restore its reputation. In the meantime, I would be reluctant to purchase this with the expectation of receiving the rebate. Warranty would also be an issue.

That's why I didn't wait very long to get one via the Pre-Black Friday promo (same price\refund). I watched the deal until they sold out at KYGunCo then decided to move on the next lowest price available. I haven't shot mine yet (mags, targets, eyes, and ears loaded and ready to go!) due to holiday busyness so I can't say whether or not I'm glad I picked one up or not!

Back ordered. Deal is dead.

Most places show the order date on the invoice. Ship date is immaterial. I've ordered stuff that didn't ship until a rebate was "over" as they still went through.

Wrong! It's very material if they can't get it to you in time for submission deadline and they told me they cannot and will not guarantee delivery in time for any rebate submissions. NO DEAL!

I talked to them this morning and just now and they WILL NOT guarantee delivery in time to receive rebate. They need to stop posting / advertising this BS!

Read the rebate terms. It has to be BOUGHT between 11/18 - 11/27 and SUBMITTED for the rebate by like 12/15.

BarryKC - Exactly how are you supposed to submit the UPC, the receipt, etc, if you don't receive before the deadline by which you MUST have submitted to Remington. This is not rocket surgery
dude.

Except you won't be charged until it ships, so your invoice would show payment after the purchase period if they're not shipping until December.

In stock, and I placed my order with Brownells tonight. After the rebate $200.00 out the door, yes this really works for me. Is there a better $200.00 gun on the market?

Shield 9 for a little bit more. If anyone is so cheap that $50 will break a deal on a better gun, that they deserve to own junk guns. Not saying this is junk since I've never played with one but giving Remington track record and all.

Taurus Millenium G2, PT111. I picked one up after I read all the good reviews for $171.40 out the door IIRC after veteran discount and buying two $85 Cabela's card codes on ebay. I had to go to Cabela's for pickup but avoided the FFL.

its now showing back in stock. I was just told this morning that they wouldnt get any until the end of december. I have one from a previous deal. Its not as good as my M&P but its half the price. Im ordering another.

I have had 2 R1's and they both ran great. These guys got beat up with that R51 pistol. It is a complicated item to mass produce. I hear the new ones work pretty well But they are going to be high maintenance because of that internal block and just the fact that if they get dirty, they will foul up. I picked up the Carry Commander on a fire sale, and it's a really solid performer. The first model about 8 years ago ran better than I could imagine. The first time out I was shocked when I saw how well it shot. And it had a great trigger for what it was. This gun looks like they tried to undercut everyone and came up with another pistol that was not ready for release. But like all the rest, it will be straightened out in this next generation. It's a good time to pick one up, There ain't much in this price range other than a High Point, Lol. I would get a few of these and leave one in the truck, Den, etc. They will work fine, they know what's at stake here, and I would look at the R51 again as it's a nice size, low recoil thin 9mm with an extra round. Just let them get it right, it's hard to turn a large train around, but once you do it will be a good little shooter. If you want a nice mid range 1911 look at the R1's as they are as good as guns twice the price, for 5 and change, when first out the Carry model was fetching 1,200 bucks, and it's worth it, at 5-600 it's a deal.

One for me! Scheduled to arrive 11-8. This is right up my alley. A cheap range gun with full size barrel and full size magazine. I'm only going to shoot 115g Factory FMJs and not going to cover it in sand or mud. For range fun at $190 this should be great. Not for self defense, not a night stand gun... I have a couple handguns that needed a 'break-in' period or are ammo picky. Not a deal breaker for me.

One review/write up killed this thing out of the gate. From what I gathered flock I mean glock fanboys don't like it so we all have to hate it too? Im tired of brand fags crapping on anything that's new to the market. Just because people like buying a $500 gun from Austria equipped standard with no ergonomics and a mushy trigger, or a rebranded Croatian HS2000 called the xd, doesn't mean everything else is bad

Wait until a new generation comes out usurping it's predecessor driving down prices where you get a $500-600 gun for a significant discount. Patience pays dividends. But yeah f- ever buying pioneer model or first generation unless you want to be voluntold QC operator.

RULE OF THUMB: NEVER buy a new design handgun until after several years after its introduction. Most of these issues do not appear during full production for many reasons. Recent history should give you the proof you need...

The newer reviews after the relaunch have been positive. Sounds like better quality control.
