I would bet these are old stock. Dealer price was about $525 at the time, Gunprime only has 10 in stock, no one else has them, and R1's are nearly extinct in every variety currently. Remington has about 300 employees, only producing 870's, and struggling to do that in any number. No written warranty, and no credibility (and I was a huge fan of Rem at one time). Check GunBroker or similar for other models and deals. They've increased in value about 20% since intro in 2010....I think this deal is high, especially for a base R1 which can use work to run nicely.

Good observations. If I was to spend this amount on a 1911, I’d probably rather do one from SA.

Agreed, again. SA knows 1911's, perhaps better than any large manufacturer, and they are masters at producing a very good one for less. I need another like one more hole in the head but that LW Ronin Commander is certainly tempting..........

Own SA 1911’s in 9mm and .45 ACP and their Croatian sensations XDM ~ Quality of workmanship, materials used, NO Complaints, accuracy out of the Loaded SS .45acp Fantastic! Good luck everyone. Thank you

After seeing reviews from verified buyers, and You Tube videos on the Tisas and the price of $339 on it I jumped and glad I did.. finish okay, Play in slide and frame ZERO, trigger not bad, weight “hefty” barrel imho a little thin but over all thumbs up. Thank you

Interesting that the new Remington company is now able to produce these. Wonder what kind of QC we can expect now…

Edit: found a recent review. Not awesome, not terrible… https://skyaboveus.com/hunting-shooting/Remington-1911R1-Review-This-Thing-Is-JUNK...

BP, Do you think the Tisas 45acp B45 is a better choice in your opinion? Thank you

Tisas is a Turkish built 1911. The R1 is questionable, I can't find anything that confirms it is US built. It is likely a Phillipines import.

I personally would probably go with the Tisas if you're on a tight budget. If not look for a true US made one from a reputable brand. I have a S&W 1911 E series which is decent. The 1911 doesn't do anything for me besides being a cool piece and fun target gun. Too large with low capacity to justify as a carry gun. Kind of small to deer hunt with. IMO...just a cool gun to own, but a novelty in today's market.
