Tag! ! ! You're it! ! !

Buy it and keep it forever. $499 is a good price for one of these compared to usual but the problem is it's still an American Century. If you buy this, make sure you really want it because you'll never be able to sell it. No one in the AK world wants one of these. To the guy below....a Century WASR is not an American Century and is a completely different animal than an RAS-47.

Saiga sgl’s are selling for around $2k new these days on GB. Used $1,600... I’ve been trying to pick one up the last month or so and they are insane. A Vepr FM can be had for a little less ($1,500) if you can catch them. Arsenal is a great choice right now as you can pick up a 107 for $875... I have no experience with wasr. I’ve been getting into AK’s the last year, love my Sam7, RD703, and Npap. Also, recently picked up a polytech legend and Norinco 84s. Both have ran flawless so far. Although the legend was annoyingly expensive and the mags for the Norinco run $100. I have an extensive collection of AR’s and wish I would have gotten into AK’s first. They are an expensive habit in today’s market. But man they are so much fun and many of the preban’s are just beautiful. With all that said if i was on tight budget and only shoot a couple times a year this Ras would do just fine I’m sure. Would I go to war with it? No.... Not sure what other options you can find at this price point though.

My first AK was a Wasr 10/63 it was beat to hell when I got it ($200) and have put at least 2,000 more through it, drum dumps and all, and still have no issues. The sights are canted, which sucks, but it is reliable. My second AK is a Saiga, now I am addicted. What a beautiful, flawless, reliable Russian AK with a sweet trigger. My third is a Vepr in .308, another beauty with a great trigger. If you have the $$ it is worth paying up for a real Russian model. They are the best made, function great, and are an investment if you care for them, as they are not able to be imported anymore. Saiga rifles have jumped from $600 to over $1,000 in the last 2 years alone.

Sks m aka Cowboy SKS or paratrooper SKS true battle rifle may cost you $200 more and it'll last longer so you can get them to take AK mags or regular SKS mags if you looking for a real battle rifle or shtf long gun go with that however this thing still shoots and we'll still get the job done

disposable being the operative word. I wouldn't trust them out to 6-7k rounds AT MOST.

You might be right on that. Most guys will barely shoot 1K rounds through it in a lifetime. Like I said, this is no battle rifle. Just an accurate plinker. The GB2 Liberty by PSA is a better choice. The RAS47 is known to have canted sights like the OPAP, NPAP, and WASR are known to have as well which sucks. Mine has them so I threw a red dot on it for medium distance so I don't have to worry about holds. To clarify it has these pros: Good barrel, decent furniture, good springs, good trigger, good sight mount, and good slant brake. Everything else is possibly sub par or average I wouldn't know. After 1.5k rounds I see no issue but that may be a weak test on a sample size of one. My only real gripe thus far is the canted sights. Canted sights really do suck so use a red dot or some other optic.

yeah, I guess it really depends on how much you shoot, I also agree on the PSA.. I don't TRUST psa after the double speak they gave the industry, but their rifles are certainly nicer from all accounts. honestly, if I was going all American, I would go Riley Defense. You should check them out. They're use forged components on everything but a few minor things and have some nice furniture layouts and are about the same price as the PSA and the RAS47... I wouldn't give them a 20,000 round life expectancy before shit went down, but they're much better than the plinker toys that the monkeys at century put out

I'm hovering somewhere around 3k rds with mine. No complaints so far. No excessive wear. First thing I did was get a M.I. rail so I haven't checked to see if sight is canted. I will say that this thing hasn't skipped a beat. Zero malfunctions. I got it on a trade. If I were to buy an AK it'd probably be either a PSA or a WASR simply due to the bad reviews of the RAS47.

Under current market conditions this rifle should be another $50 cheaper but they are not junk rifles as they are far more accurate out of the box with an optic than a WASR, OPAP, NPAP, and very many others in their price range. The green mountain 4150 barrel they use is plenty accurate with Wolf ammo in many reviewer's tests and is a good barrel even if they started using the 4140 which they may have(borrowed from C39V2 overstock). We are talking 1 to 1.5MOA which is superb for an entry level AKM. They lack durability so do not use it as a battle rifle. Just use it as a plinker and clean it often like you would a cheap AR15. The GB2 Liberty AK-47 by palmetto state armory is a better buy at $500 for a blemished polymer AKM.

RAS47 a quality durable AKM? It is not. Disposable accurate plinker? Yes, it is. I have one that has been through 1.5K rounds and shows no wear other than discoloration of finish in some areas with no missing material. I could use magnaflux and dye penetrant for NDT testing if I had seen any issues but it has none thus far. AKOU Robski had a sample of one. Robski does bullshit tests like rifle pushups and water dunking and firing. That is not scientific due to the way you decide to let it drain and how long it is under water and so on is not controlled at all. Militaries do not use those uncontrolled methods for a reason, it is not scientific. You might as well lube your guns with snake oil if you trust a sample size of one. That being said, I do prefer my Arsenal SAM7R over it but I paid three times as much for it as well.

How come? Don't know a thing about AK'S but would like a GOOD entry level AK. Looking for recommendations.

they're made of shit metal, and they've been falling apart like crazy in every extended test theyve been put through. just google Robski and RAS47... just look around for a WASR 10 for $530 and you'll be MUCH happier

Junk rifle. Spend $100-150 more and get a wasr that will last you 10x as long. My wasr internals look almost new after 800 rounds, the internals on a Ras look significantly wore after 800 rounds

I wouldn't say these are junk at all, in fact they are darn nice for the money. My only turn off is the suggestion that the trunnion is cast which I don't know if Century has every really confirmed one way other the other. If someone would like to cut one up and examine it at the microscopic leave, now that would be interesting. The one I owned but eventually sold to buy another gun ran like a scalded dog and the fit and finish were about the best I've seen on any AK, given, they are new manufacture US made, but the nitride treatment looked awesome and the overall look and feel of quality was there is spades. Wood was nice and unblemished, tapco trigger was fantastic, rivets were perfect and while no AK expert, the quality of workmanship seemed top notch for a gun in this price range or even much higher. Still, that trunnion thing bothers me a bit. If had the means to change the trunnion for a forged or billet one, I'd have kept the shit out for that gun. Only real problem I had experienced with it was major face punch syndrome while using iron sights due to the butt stock which is seemingly designed for optics alignment. I'd say for the right price, these are really nice guns though definitely not for the AK purist. That said, as ot stands if I buy another AK, it'll probably be a Zastava N Pap. My with the N pap is why in the heck don't they nitride treat the barrels. An Z N pap with in nitride would be sick and I'd be all over it. I have to say though, if Century would build these with a proper trunnion, even if they charged a little more, and got their customer service right, the RAS would be one bad assed American made AK and that is no BS.

they're junk. look at Robski's latest video. he's barely made it halfway through a 5,000 round test and the bolt and carrier and trunnions are beating thrashed to death. It's the same price as a WASR 10 if you look around and the WASR is way past 10,000 rounds and not even showing signs of major wear. not even a comparison

Yes there are definitely better rifles for a few bucks more. Honestly though, fuck AK operators, I don't understand why the fuck people give them so much credit. Their methods are anything but scientific and half the time there is a problem that fake russian Rob guy is like "I don't know". Honestly, I'd probably put more stock in Nutnfancy's opinion then these AK jackwads and that isn't saying much. To my original point, the furniture, barrel, and receiver of the RAS 47 are very nice. If you had the means or desire to change the bolt and trunnion it would be a really nice gun. How cost prohibitive that is compared to just buying a N pap, O pap or whatever may make it unfeasible.

Rob's not russian, or being fake russian. He's polish, and it's a dead on accent to all my relatives who came from Poland during the 60s.

Yeah, well seems a bit fake to me with the whole "rifle is good" way of speaking. I've heard you can buy polish rifles cheap, never fired and only dropped once.
