Many 308 uppers being made today are "DPMS high profile". There's only 1/16th of an inch difference between "low" and "high", you wouldn't be able to tell the difference just by looking at them unless you got really close to them.

I can’t remember when the last time i saw an LR-308 dpms high profile upper Receiver, I’m certain someone is probably still making them but the newer gen 2 DPMS LR-307 low profile is definitely the way to go. The 308 doesn’t need any extra weight!
