Which do you think is more durable and will stand the test of time better - plastic or steel? Steel doesn't dry out and crack the way plastic does. And the steel levers, hinges and handle are far more durable than plastic levers, plastic hinges and a plastic handle - especially when you load them up with 50 lbs of ammo. Yes, there are four boxes (525 rounds each) located inside of the 'dry box.' I picked up one of these a couple of weeks ago when they offered it with the metal ammo can. 4 x 525 = 2,100. Who would sell a single bulk box of 525 Federal .22s for $70? It should be obvious, especially when its being offered by such a large and reputable retailer.
If you don't feel like buying two of these to get free shipping add 3 of these http://gun.deals/product/federal-22-lr-37-gr-hp-value-pack-325-rounds-1399-fs... (Federal 325 round Packs for $11.49) and your total will be $104 and you will be able to use the free shipping coupon.
This is a decent deal. WalMart here in Glendale, AZ, offers the 550 bulk pack of Federal rounds for $18.97, which comes out to about 3.4 cents per round. This box of 525 comes out to exactly 3 cents per round. Of course, local sales tax increases those prices, but either way, the Cabela's sale is slightly cheaper per round. Also, if you have to pay for shipping, the deal isn't so good, but if you have a Cabela's near you, shipping to the store is free. Or you have to spend a minimum amount to get free shipping, which is usually $100. I have a Cabela's just down the street from me, so it looks like my Walther P22 won't go hungry for a while. :) Thanks for posting this deal!
Price per round is showing as 15.99 which is the actual cost of the brick of .22. PPR should be 0.03
I called Cabela's and this item is not $67.99 for 2100 rounds.
The $67.99 is for only 1 box of 525 rounds,
which means you would have to get 4 boxes @ $271.96 to get ammo box w/ free shipping!
That's $0.13 per round! You can get $0.03 per round at your local Walmart!

This is not true, I got 2 dry boxes and 4200 rounds (8 x 525 packs) when I ordered two of these with free shipping. Why did you even bother calling Cabelas when it says on the website that this is for 2100 rounds?

See, I wasn't too sure with the picture and product descriptions not matching up. Picture is only of one 525rnd box, then description says it's 2,100rnd w/ dry-storage box. Plus, when it says "Available" does that mean it's included or does that mean it's only if you buy 4? It was confusing, so I didn't want to take the risk (being ammo is nonrefundable) and decided to call and find out; that's when the Cabela's rep told me it was just 1 box of 525rnds.
Anyway. I'm glad someone actually made a comment to confirm. That's awesome you got 2 dry boxes for that price!
I got 2 dry boxes because I ordered 2 sets, 2 x $67.99 = $135.98
so for $67.99 you will get 1 dry box and 2100 rounds (4 x 525 packs)
Why not the Dunhams deal if you are near one, 2100 rounds for $60 and just buy whatever box you prefer.

The reviews on the plastic ammo box are horrible.....go read them. It distorts under load and breaks seal. Many say it just isn't any good. Never tried it, but the steel boxes are very proven!
