I bought this CMMG .22 conversion bolt with three mags for around $180 two years ago. It's true you can buy a .22 rifle cheaper but this has a real fun factor dropping it in your AR and firing all day cheap. I use it in a Radical Firearms 5.56/.223 upper and use my existing charging handle. Now the .002 difference in round diameter does make a difference in accuracy and it's noticeable. I'll start off shooting an 8" splatter target at 50 meters with the .223 and then switch to the .22 bolt. I'll still pepper the 8" target but not the same groups as a .223 round. However, I don't mind blowing 500 rounds in a range trip when I'm using the conversion bolt. Even Tula gets expensive after a while. You'll notice the bolt has what appears to be a casing at the business end. This is attached to the bolt and seats in your chamber but I haven't noticed any damage to my rifle. The biggest problem I have is seating the magazines. You can't slam them in place like a normal mag, rather you gently slide and lock them in. I have well over 2,000 rounds though this bolt and think it was a great value purchase. Bottom line, sacrifice a little accuracy but have the benefit of plinking with your full size AR.

With prices the way they are just buy a dedicated 22. I bought this before the slump and it caused a deep gouge inside my upper receiver. It was caused by a cotter key that walked out while I was shooting for the day. Shards of my upper receiver were all through the upper receiver and down in the trigger assembly. Took forever to clean. CMMG had me ship it back and they "fixed" it. Also replaced my upper receiver. Fired it again and a different pin walked out and caused damage again!! CMMG would not replace it or do anything. Only sent me replacement cotter pins. Horrible customer service and absolutely horrible product! I have a Youtube video in the works to show damage.

It’s probably easier to pony up the other $150 to buy an M&P15 22

What mags are these? I have the original converter that came with the skinny 10 rd magazine and it looks super goofy on the ARs.
