I have this kit and I have used it numerous times and am yet to experience any trouble or breakdowns with it. Ok I'll take it back - the large primer feeder is finicky when there is only 1 or 2 primers left in it. Woop dee doo - big deal. I only reload odd-ball rilfe calibers (7.62x54r, 8x56r, 6.5x50 and some mauser calibers), In 2014 I'll also start 308,and will be using this press along with Lee dies. This is an excellent beginner set and will last you for years.

Absolutely! While I do not own this exact kit, I do have other LEE products that have always served their purpose!!! (Some of the Lee dies offer features you won't find elsewhere)

The ability to ~get started~ in reloading for less than $100.00 is almost unheard of these days, and if the 'low price of admission' we see here means more folks will be able to get into reloading, I'm all for it!

The Lee reloading kit is very low quality. Cheap is not the same thing as inexpensive. The press is flimsy and sloppy. The other components are low quality too.
I recommend the Hornady or RCBS kits. I purchased the Hornady kit after trying to get the Lee kit for an hour. I'm very pleased with my Hornady!

This is the first press I started with, and i still use it to this day as a go-to single stage for everything up to 30-06. You can spend hundreds or thousands on more expensive options, but in reality this will load as good a round as basically any other press. Every time Ive had an issue (with run out specifically) lee was more than willing to replace the entire press or correct any problems. (They replaced it once, after thousands of rounds, when I carelessly broke the press - for free, and paid shipping, and apologized for the inconvenience)

LEE hating is common amongst elitists, in reality all presses have their advantages and disadvantages.

If you are reloading to *save money*, why would you spend so much on a press it would take your entire lifetime to save enough money to pay off, when the round you create with this will be equally as nice as your 'other' press rounds. It's all in the time/skill of the individual re-loader, rarely does equipment play a major role.

Additionally, I really do like the priming system on this press. Even if you own a progressive press, you will always have a use for a single stage press. The fact your recommending 'kits' is likely because your a new re-loader. I don't know a single experienced re-loader that would recommend any *kit* but rather piece together every part tailored to the individual re-loaders need.

Bottom line: If you have nobody to learn from hands on, this is a ***GREAT*** way to begin. be sure to buy at least two modern reloading books so you can cross compare charges, BOLT any reloading press down firmly (ZERO PLAY, bolt the bench to your wall too!), and always be safe! Most will continue to buy additional items for reloading, and spend many thousands doing so, be prepared to get sucked in - just don't become one of these elitists that ruin the reloading community.

I never thought of myself as an elitist. If you think being smart enough to learn from mistakes means I am of higher intellect, thank you for the compliment.

Your attempt at condescending name calling shows who is ruining the "reloading community". Disrespecting my opinion with your snide comments does not make your opinion better. I am offering an experienced opinion to help others from making mistakes that I wish I had not.

If you reload anything other than bulk common ammo, your press will pay for itself in just a few uses. Why be stuck with a cheap press for years when you could have just spend a few bucks more at the beginning? Reloading takes an investment, make it a good one.

You are making recommendations on kits you have never purchased? Your post right now reads (Im going to have to quote you from now on before responding)
"I recommend the Hornady or RCBS kits. I purchased the Hornady kit after trying to get the Lee kit for an hour. I'm very pleased with my Hornady!"
"...smart enough to learn from mistakes means I am of higher intellect!"

If you were unable to use the checkout to purchase the press in the first place (and tried to fix it for over an hour.... its amazon....) how could you have bashed (now revised? to just calling cheap) the press kit? If you never purchased the RCBS kit how can you recommend it?

Elitist
1. a person who believes that a system or society should be ruled or dominated by an elite.
(RE: Recommend RCBS when you didn't purchase it (off price?), bash Lee when you didn't purchase it)
AND
2. favoring, advocating, or restricted to an elite.
(Again, favoring kits when you have only apparently tried one, bashing a kit your extreme intellect was unable to purchase)

Using your logic, for a few bucks more(and more, and more) why not purchase a Dillon 1050xl? It's also a good press. The reason is, everyone has a budget, this press was designed with that in mind. It works well, in fact you will find some people even swage bullets with the thing with very minor changes! Unless you are a gorilla or fail to use proper case lubrication, a lightweight/inexpensive press is plenty for 99% of re-loaders performing single stage operations. The only real exceptions here are cases physically too large to fit within the O press design and require specialty presses you won't find sold in a kit form

For the record i own, Lee, Dillon, RCBS, Hornady, Forster/Bonanza, and Hollywood presses. I am by no means an expert, but I would say I have some knowledge on the topic.

Thumb down my posts, edit yours, brag about your intellect, and bash all the presses you want ATRepair, freedom of speech is still alive. You don't have an opinion because you have no actual experience with 66.6% of the products you mentioned (and ZERO with the product this topic is about). If you do have an opinion, even with your extreme intelligence, I wouldn't call it sound....
Good day!

Selectively choosing definitions doesn't make you right.
Your ignorance to what I have owned does not make you right.
You are the one who called me intelligent by comparison to yourself and calling me an elitist.
You are correct, I didn't purchase the Lee kit. It was a gift and a shitty one at that.
An hour was enough to know that it was SHIT!
"99%", did you do a survey? Lies do not make you right. I do agree with you that you are no expert. Stop trying to act like you are by spreading lies and making up bogus stats.

The thumbs down is because you are an ignorant fuck that doesn't have respect for others. Don't talk about freedom of speech when you have no respect for others to exercise their freedom of speech.

Enjoy your ignorance.

The seven years serving and multiple reconstructive surgery's as a result thereof also gives me some knowledge of freedom of speech. I was willing to sacrifice my life to protect even your ability to misinform others.

The dictionary results were the two google offered, you can pick any dictionary you like and apply it, the meaning of the word is actually the same in all of them.

" I purchased the Hornady kit after trying to get the Lee kit for an hour."
You went from trying to get the kit to having received it as a gift.

I said good day!

It was supposed to read 'after trying to get the Lee kit to work correctly for an hour". I am not sure what happened but it was not as I intended to have posted.

Sorry, I just went and checked and your thumbing down multiple presses when manufactured by Lee.... riiight... not an elitist....

Thank you for your service. I have great respect for those who have. However, simply because you served does not mean you can be disrespectful toward me and or another person. You are ignorant of my service record. We are all of value until we disprove our worth.

You attacked my opinion and publicly disrespected me. Why try to hide in private messages now? I politely reject your attempt to send private mesages. I suggest we agree to disagree and move on. This is not productive and not conducive to what this site is for.
I apologize for taking offense to what you have said and wish you a good day as well.

It's a crap press no matter what kit they bundle it with.

What's wrong with me offering an experienced opinion on more than one product? Seems like you are some sort of Lee supporter. Do you work for them or something? Sure seems like you have some sort of defensive position that is a little bias.
I have owned the single stage Lee and used the progressive, both crap!

Yet a large number of people are satisfied with the Lee kits for their budget and type of reloading. Lee is not RCBS and RCBS is not Dillon and Dillon is not a computerized ammo factory.

Lee is sufficient for loading most ammunition at half or more under the cost of the brands you mention, which a number of people have found pleasing. The handle is sloppy, but the stroke of the shell holder piston is just fine. Also there's nothing wrong with the chamfers primer cleaners or the cutter. The powder measure and funnel will do their jobs too but yes abuse the plastic and they'll break. The scale, it's not the best it's cheap but it'll work and accurately.

Good your happy with what you have, I'm happy with my Dillon, RCBS, Lee Loader and Handloader and the various brands of accessories I have. Still for those looking for the Lee this isn't a bad price.

I agree that it's a good price compared to the regular price. It is not something that I would ever recommend and wish I had known more about it when I got started. This is the reason I am sharing my experienced opinion.

A job will only be as good as the tools you have to do the job. I like nice tools.
