I came to pick up this piece of work from my FFL dealer. Wasted trip. The gun was all covered in powder residue like a box of ammo was shot through it. Finish scratched up, mag had to be worked in and out of the well. Bluing on mag worn off in many places. Inside the frame nasty grinder cuts with the light coat of rust. Trigger gritty and stiff, breaks at about 8-9 lbs. Bottom line: no more Tauruses for me in any way shape or form.

I picked this 1911 for $399. Swapped out the grips for rubber one. Love this 1911. I compared this Taurus with Colt Gold cup series. I put 70 rounds through each gun. The Taurus was dam near the same quality as the Colt. The colt maybe had a smidge more balance, maybe. Taurus is making a great 1911 for 1/3rd of the price. You can go out and shoot this gun and if you scratch its no big deal.

I have the aluminum frame version and love it. It has had no mis-feeds or jams to date.

I've always steered clear of Taurus semi-autos because of their not-so-stellar rep, but I handled one of these in a local shop & was very impressed with the quality and over all feel. Two years later, it's handled 700-800 rounds beautifully.

I own a handful of 1911s, including several custom Kimbers, and this PT1911 shoots every bit as well as they do, at a third of the price.
