I’ve put one of these on a 12GA Maverick 88 and somehow it has had 0 issues in 300-400 rounds of 00 Buck. For $25… buy 2. Like right now.
This thing has to be awful…but…it sure is tempting to put on a back up. Someone talk me out of it!
Gun marketing has convinced normal everyday people that they need to spend $350 on a flashlight or they're going to die in the streets.
There's a ridiculously small chance you will ever need to use your gun defensively. In one of those ridiculously small chances, if it does happen, there's an even smaller chance you will need a flashlight. And past those two scenarios, there is a stupidly and so remotely small chance that if you do happen to use your gun defensively AND need the light, that the light will fail on you in that exact moment in time unless you spend the equivalent of a car payment for a Surefire.
The guys saying "well, I guess your life isn't worth the money" are idiots. Probably the same guys driving to the range in a 24 year old car with bald tires, a cracked windshield, squealing brakes, and 6 year old oil in it to plink at 25m with their $1,200 optic on a $2,500 AR.
I mean, really think about it. It's not some marvel piece of engineering and technology, it's a compact light. It's probably going to be fine, you're not crawling through harsh terrain in Somalia with it. IF it breaks, you're out 30 bucks. Not the end of the world.
And past all that above, the thing nobody will tell you is that, like any other electronic device on the planet, the super expensive lights can (and have) failed too.
Who said this was specifically for the streets. I agree that a light on a carry gun is probably not needed but at home, especially if others live with you, I'd argue is a requirement...and I wouldn't buy a cheap one...but that's just me
If you feel it's a "requirement" and want to spend a premium, you do you. But I hate when people say things like "oh well I guess your life isn't worth spending $300 on a Surefire" or "you can't rely on a cheap light," that's where I take a huge issue. These are the same fools that think a $2,500 Staccato is more reliable and therefore better suited for defense than a M&P, Security 9, Glock, Dagger, etc just because it's way more expensive. Couldn't be further from the truth.
I have the same $15 light on my home defense PCC and 9mm plastic fantastic, I've dropped and slammed it into the ground multiple times, and over the course of a year both work just fine.
I also have these things called light switches. They've proven to be pretty reliable too.
I just got it today. The lumens are good, laser is also good. It's not a plastic cheap item. It actually surprised me that the company put time into it. I will take it to the range soon and run it on my G22 for a operational test. The bonus is that it's a made in USA company.
"Your life depends on it" is an invalid point for accessory. Your life depend on your gun, ammo and training. Accessory is just an aid.
For the price, it is pretty good. I use it, like it. The only cons is you have to DIY holster.
If it loose zero, put some light duty thread locker and you will be golden. Spare money for class and training.
They make a slightly different model that I own in the same price range, I found pretty much the same unit under Solofish and Defentec brands where the unit is a little smaller because the green laser shines thru a small hole in the reflector of the flashlight like OLight does on the Mini Baldr. Who needs to spend 200-300 on a flashlight and laser unless you are taking it into field ops for real and even then it doesn't affect the operation of your weapon so not a critical link. I'd rather have multiple lights on multiple weapons instead of moving them around.
