Its not that much fun shooting the DB9, but carrying it is much easier, and its still a 9mm. I own two, a Gen 3 and Gen 4 I carried over a 10yr period although I upgraded recently to either the Beretta APXA1 Carry w Red Dot when IWB or a Kimber Micro 9 for pocket carry (with a trigger guard). With any micro 9 under 15oz fte/ftfs are a problem with poor form/limp wristing, and actually shooting it means feeling the recoil with only 15ozs of mass between a full power 9mm cartridge and your hand. If size and weight didn't matter when it comes to how often you'll actually carry, I'd carry my Regard, thats why they still sell heavier metal framed guns, they shoot like butter. Now, this listing is for Dack Outdoors and my current order from Feb 4,2024 still hasnt shipped on Mar 18th, so the lead time issue is real and my order is for 3 different types magazines, not even a gun.

Man, 6 weeks! Annoying.

Yea, def true on the size being great to carry. That part was awesome. But in trying to train with it, unholster it quickly, deploy it with a usable grip and deliver accurate gun fire under stress proved to problematic for me. Couple that with the discomfort in shooting and I decided a heavier/thicker gun that erased all those fore mentioned issues was well worth it.

Carrying is awesome, but personally I couldnt give up the main function/reason for the gun just to satisfy my comfortability needs.

FF to 2016 and more recent so many thin micros exist that still give you “duty gun” perforance, reliability and repeatable accuracy at speed, things like these “belly guns” (ala LCPs) should really serve in those roles only. But then again—the idea of gut shots to stop a threat certainly is not the ideal way to do so.

I feel like the Ruger Max 9 works as well as most full size guns in those regards & it's not much bigger than this DB9 & has a capacity of 12+1. It's 18.4 oz. I'm surprised it isn't more popular. I got one right when they came out & keep it on me more than any other firearm I own. It easily fits in my pocket right beside my phone, but I don't ever wear tight pants either lol.

Agree with everything you said but those others are really subcompacts with a few more ounces of mass in slide/frame that mitigate recoil/improve reliability and most are double stack mags, thicker and every round adds to overall carry weight, meaning you can't just carry them concealed in the back pocket of Levis or swim trunks, only the DB9 and Keltec PF9 are 9mms that can do that and are very comparable. Micros were really intended as backup or pocket guns, not duty weapons for IWB or OWB carry dependent upon clothing, belts and using a full holster. In a real self defense situation, its usually under 7 yards and you won't mind the recoil at all versus not having a weapon that day because you were only wearing shorts with no shirt, but I agree almost any other gun is more fun to shoot at the range. For me it was break them in with a 100-200 rounds initially, but once I gained confidence in its reliability, it was only a single mag dump as a function test on subsequent range trips before switching to something bigger. Today, I'm wearing jeans with a belt and a windshirt, so I didn't even consider the DB9 vs something a little bigger in a IWB holster.

One of the most painful guns you will shoot 6 times then immediately sell.
