These SR1911s are AWESOME pistols, quite possibly the best 1911 you can buy for under $800.00. :-)

This is a pretty good price.. wish I could afford/justify the purchase.
I actually just traded for a 1911.. It was a Remington _R1_.. for some reason I was thinking I was trading for one of these at first (I'm guessing the 'R1' in the SR1911 has something to do with it)

Either way, really like my R1 but I'd trade it for this in a heartbeat - Just throwing that out there for any Remington fans :)

Is this mil spec?

Mil Spec for a 1911 doesn't happen much any longer; as they are no longer made for the US Army. M9 Beretta and M11 Sig are Mil Spec... having said that; the SOCmd people remade a whole slew of them for use in A-stan... and now the USMC is buying a new .45 from Colt. This M1911 is so way far past Mil Spec, you want this ( with these features ); not a WWII/ Kor/ VN Milspec .45... for example, sights are better, 8 rnd mag, trigger and trigger assembly, extended slide release and longer grip safety, beveled magazine opening, etc... the new ones are so way much better .45's than a mil spec one. Have fun, customizing and shooting! Regards... go see http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/article/20120719/NEWS/207190333/Elite-Marine-Corps-units-field-new-pistols...

There are many good "buy it now" deals on Gunbroker. I got a Hi Point carbine for $250 last month. You just have to look carefully and be ready to pull the trigger.

Decent price and a good place to purchase. I recently bought a used Glock from Sportsmans and was impressed with their service. As for the SR1911, I don't think there is a better value for a very good (stainless) 1911. I've put well over 1000 rounds through mine and love it.

good for you, when it first came out it was on preorder at TGScom for $629, i'm glad I didn't pull the trigger back then as they went out of business, and probably didn't ship out any of them. Impact Guns had them for the same price on preorder, but now they at $689 + S/H on backorder....

Any reports on accuracy from fellow forum members? I was under the impression this pistol offers excellent value but sacrifices match quality. Opinions please.

Congrats from a fellow SR1911 owner! I have other 1911s but the Ruger is the first out of the safe and into a softcase on range day. These are high quality 1911s even at the $715 price. I managed to get one of the first for $649 and regret not buying another since I have two sons. One day they'll have to draw straws to figure out who will be the lucky one that gets the SR1911.

Called Woodbury , they indicated that it was a misprint and that they do not have any in stock.

Ummmm....what? I see no SR1911 listed anywhere. Did they take it off?

I bought my Ruger SR1911 last May. I am still stoked with my purchase, and all of my friends who have shot it can't believe how nice it is. It is Kimber class, but for less than $800. This is something that I can hand down to my son...

This is not a good price, TGS is still taking preorders for $629, but that's if you want to wait for, well forever. It's a great gun, but when in stock it should be closer to $600. You are paying a premium at $769, just bc it is in stock.
