I've had one of these V-lines for years and years. Requires no batteries, nice simplex lock, bolts down easily (though mine is on a hardened steel chain since bolting it to the bottom of a drawer seems pretty silly...), and can easily hold a full-sized automatic and several magazines, or two autos and a spare mag each.
This bed box is much more robust than any of the various 'Gun Vault' boxes I've had my paws on, and while it is a much heavier gauge steel, it is not as think-walled as a Ft. Know box (but splits the difference in price between a GunVault and Ft. Knox, so pick your poison). Spend about $60 more and you get the Ft. Knox which is one very serious handgun box. I've got the Ft. Knox in a another location (more public with more access by prying fingers), but I feel very comfortable with the V-Line as the bed box.
