Wasr is the best "budget" AK you can buy and by budget I mean 7-800 bucks. I agree about the RAS 47, C39, VSKA or any other US made AK from CAI, but the WASR isn't in that class.
I think by "better barrel" he meant that the M70s have a tendency to erode the barrel at a round count of about 5k rounds or so. By standard AK furniture he means 99% of all AK furniture will fit the wasr, not just magpul. The Npap, Opap, Zpap have that funny handguard with the extra vet hole on the gas tube. 3 instead of the traditional 2. You have to buy Npap furniture not AK furniture.
The days of buying a sub 800 ak are slipping away. wasr is the only steal at just below 700 otherwise you can get PSA AK which is the best American Make atm, but Id just get a wasr. Norinco Mak 90s were selling for 300 bucks and people thought they were crap.....how much are they now? If Imports stop Wasr will do the same.
The N-PAP was $500 previously. What makes this worth an additional $300? The WASR has a better barrel and accepts standard AKM furniture for less cost.
By better barrel whay do you mean? Magpual makes a zukov folding and collapsible stock and midwest has a rail... i agree that the 800 prive tag is high because i bought an npap for 550. If they dropped in price id def scoop one up. But id 100% buy this over a wasr10, ras37, c39 or any CAI import right now.
