Hmm imdidnt need to do all that for my yugo kit. I must have done a different kit. Mine took about 2 hours. To finish than another hour to go back and fix what I messed up the first time. So about an afternoon. My
Buddy built one of the PSA list and it took him about 20 minutes. Basic assembly. To be honest I don't really
Build anything anymore from an AR perspective. They are just so cheap right now. Heck you can get a quality Wimdham in 7.62x39 for $495. You can't build a better one for a better price. Than you add the resell value, lifetime warrenty, and accuracy/reliability and it's a no brainer to me. Worst case I will just buy complete uppers.

So you didn't need a press for the barrel or need to do any riveting on a Yugo kit?!? How is that possible? No offense but if someone told me they changed a tire without a lug wrench or a jack I would be a little skeptical.

Cool, yeah I sold my parts kits and accumulated build tools and got a WASR beginning of the year, and just got a PSA kit too a bit ago. PSA kit was a breeze as you said. That is closer to my skill level... Agreed at this point budget is not a reason to build an AR. It was for me 3 years ago, however, and did my time then. Anyone just getting into the AR scene is entering at a great time $$ wise.

Well the luring thing about these kits is that it's an RPK and you can't just go buy one of the shelve that I know of besides the ras47 RPK version.

Yes and the aes or m72 built from a parts kit are all at least 1k. I got one of these kits from numrich and it is pristine with the cut receiver extentions and chopped barrel sections. Perfect for a reweld receiver build.

As far as reweld, are you talking about the milled receiver version?

This is a stamped receiver, not a milled one. I am planning to clean off the slag and straighten the torch cuts, drill out the rail spot welds and remove the rails, fixture the receiver parts and cut .063" 4130 sheet to fill the gaps from the torch cuts and weld everything back together and then plug weld new rails into the receiver. Also first thing is to plug the auto sear holes before anything is done. My receiver had the torch cut right through the trigger and hammer holes, so I will need to drill new ones and heat treat those areas also.

Yo just need the reciever. They are not bad to build. If you can build an AR and have tools this is not much different. Just clarify it comes with the barrel. I see one of comments stating it doesn't but I don't think that's right. I built one a couple months ago and all I needed was receiver. I don't think I had to buy any special tools. It was a fun build and interesting as I'm an AR guys so it was nice to learn more about AK's. Since than I've really started ramping up my AK collection and knowledge. The major different with the build is these will be surplus parts compared to AR everything is shinny and brand new. This there is not As much precision needed. The tolerances are much wider. I've seen PSA with kits as well. That might be a better option if your looking for a "new" AK build...

Barrel is chopped into multiple sections with a saw per batfe requirement on all imported parts kits after 2005. Receiver was torch cut into 3 sections and all the parts came heavily covered in cosmoline. Everything must also be demilled.

If these come with a barrel then it's a great deal.

These look like they need to be de-milled also. Using hydraulic press, drill press, punches, and whatever cutting tools you have on hand to remove parts from old assembly to be ready for new assembly.

I abandoned my quest to build an ak since I needed to weld, screw, or rivet the parts to the receiver. I had a stripped receiver sent to my FFL. I decided to rivet since I have zero xp welding or tapping/threading for screws. You need a 20-ton hydraulic press or Toth Tools for barrel, barrel pin, gas block, front sight installation, and probably a jig/spacer to get positioning right. If a new barrel you may need to drill a gas port. You will need to use a flat end mill to drill for barrel pin once barrel is pressed into the front trunnion. Then barrel is pressed back out for riveting. For riveting you need a jig for the trigger guard rivets and another jig for rear trunnion rivets. Using Toth Tools you don't need a front trunnion rivet jig, rather bolt cutters with their special heads.

For an AR I use a #2 pencil, a credit card, a pin punch set with poly/brass hammer, a castle nut wrench, and for upper combo wrench for barrel/flash hider and a torque wrench.

The PSAK47GB2 build kits need a hammer. Maybe a screwdriver. And furniture/fcg parts.

Yeah, a new rifle.

Are these complete rifles just unassembled? Or what's needed to complete?

You need about $500 dollars worth of tools, barrel and receiver another $130. Oh and lots of research.
