The NFA is so backwards anymore. I’ve been waiting for an SBR to get approved for 9 months now. If I am going to get a silencer I’ll get a top of the line considering you have to pay an additional $200 for the BATF tax stamp.

Maybe for .30cal but if you want a .22 can I wouldn’t spend more than $150. The caliber is so easy to suppress, not rocket science

These look like the $20 solvent traps you can buy off ebay. I'd go that route and pay a machinist $50 to drill baffles and engrave/serial can after Form 1 approval within 30 days of payment instead of a year.

Guys, forgive me for a stupid question. I do not know how this stuff works. If I want to buy this thing, per my understanding I have to send a lot of ink filled paper to ATF in order they give me an NFA stamp. By the time I get the response, probably in a year this item will be long time gone. So how can this even work ?

You purchase this from a company of your choosing, then they ship it to one of your local gun shops that can process Class 3 NFA items. You then have to do all of the paperwork involved (fingerprints) and send a check with your paperwork to the ATF. If you are cool with your local dealer/range, they will usually let you use your silencer at THEIR location while you wait to be approved, then you take it home after you get your stamp back! If you can find a local dealer that uses "Silencer Shop" kiosks, it will go a lot quicker, especially after you have completed and been approved for your first silencer, as it keeps all of your info electronically and makes the process MUCH easier. Have fun!

It's convoluted, and stupid, but generally when you purchase a suppressor your paying for a serialized unit that is specific to your form 1. The seller will often help with the paperwork, and then hold on to the item until the paperwork goes though, at which time you may take possession of that item assuming everything is copacetic. If the form is denied, the seller can then attempt to sell it to another individual, and you should receive a refund, minus any filing charges. Not an esquire, so consult a dealer for more information.
