This is exceptionally accurate rifle. I bought it couple years ago. It works great with 55gr Winchester white box, PPU M193, Geco 55gr FMJ and with 77gr OTM Black Hills, FC262 and IMI razor core 77gr. At 300 yards I can hold (with 8x Vortex optics) 3.75 inches all day with 77gr OTM (Don't listen to internet commandos 1 in 9 twist works great with heavy ammo). Concerning velocities, 55gr Winchester goes at 3,130 fps, PPU was clocked at 3,040 fps same as Geco. I chronographed heavy stuff too with at least 60 rounds each time. IMI razor core 77gr goes at 2693 feet/sec (with amazing standard deviation of 19.4 feet/sec). Black Hills was slightly slower at 2681 feet/sec and standard deviation of 27 feet/sec (Black Hills does prefer longer barrel than IMI). Federal FC262 was clocked at 2630 feet/sec with standard deviation of incredible 12 feet/sec. Out of all these FC262 was the most accurate. It was holding 10 round groups at 100 yards at 0.8 inches and sometimes at 300 yards it was holding 10 shoot groups (3 or 5 shot precision tests are statistically worthless) at 2.5 inches. Just shows that rifle is ore accurate than I am. I did put CNC 3.5lb trigger on the rifle.
My next trip I will push it to 500 yards with heavy stuff. This rifle in terms of precision (accuracy term is wrongly used in most cases) is on par with my 18 inch armalite 3-gun with 18 inch SS barrel.

Just to add please make sure you buy this rifle in heavy barrel configuration HBC if you want to get precision benefits I described. This picture is misleading. It shows HBC but it is M4 barrel version. Be careful

I was issued a full auto M16-A1 when I was in the Marine Corps. At the time I thought my rifle was a complete hunk of crap because it had a lot of wear and tear being a Vietnam war era rifle. The thing had those triangle hand guards that are hell to remove, plus we had iron sights not those sweet ACOGs used today. I'd sure love to own one now. But those rifles, even when converted into semiautomatic only, are too expensive to bother owning and I have had no success locating a reasonably priced replica.
