I have it and just used it to mount 2 scopes. One with a Night Force one piece, no extra work needed, just used the levels and the wrench, but the one on my dads 30-06 needed lapping for sure. This kit is great.

I don't want to start a debate here, but..
As far as voiding the warranty on a set of rings, has their been a case of rings going bad once installed correctly?
I will gladly sacrifice any "warranty" the rings may have to save a lifetime warranty on a very expensive scope any day of the week.
You may likely void the warranty on your rings, so what? I can tell you that a scope manufacturer will not honor the warranty on a scope that is damaged from rings, that is certain.
I'm not going to just bolt on rings out of the box and hope it all jives and hope my scope will be okay from that point forward and when I remove it someday it will not have crimps or bends. Rings are typically the cheapest of the trinity of base, rings, and glass. If something needs to be honed and a slight amount of material removed, I recommend the rings. When you start getting out there to long distances, thousandths of inches are multiplied hundreds of times and that adds up quick to inches between POI and POA. If you level your scope, it's not going to be level from end to end of it's torqued around on it's ring mounts. Windage and elevation are not going to be square.

As with anything, if you go overboard, you can mess up just about anything. You don't need 100% contact from ring to scope. You're just looking to increase the footprint or the gripping surface area. You're not boring new holes. You are truing up minor differences that some ring manufacturers don't use the tolerances for and you are correcting the sum of the errors in your receiver holes, base, and base slots. There is no way a factory ring can account for these alignment issues. I would not be too concerned about a warranty on rings.
But, it's your money, and unlike the federal government, I'm not about to tell you how you should spend it.

Not many people lapping their rings anymore. Many companies will void the warranty if you do try to lap them. The torque driver is great though.

You're welcome everyone, for the record low price drop. All I had to do was order one at $70.00. Got it a few days ago, no doubt, my luck made it happen. Enjoy.
As for the kit, the torque wrench is essential and the bits are great. If you use wide rings, like most "tactical" labeled rings, it makes a big difference due to the large contact area between scope tube and ring.
It keeps everything in alignment so things like temperature and expansion between dissimilar metals is mitigated.
Some powder coatings, paint, and other finishes are not perfectly flat and level so they make high spots that need to be knocked down. You can avoid weakening your perfectly round scope tube by crushing it or crimping rings into it. If you ever try to sell your used scope, it will be a hard sell with a damaged tube or even marred tube.
Receiver holes are not always drilled perfectly in a straight line, rings are not always machined perfectly, and even one piece rails can be warped slightly.
Lapping your rings once you have your final placement done will correct a lot of these possible deviations. It will relieve stresses that may cause your scope to walk around and can cause screws to back out over time and after cycles of heating up and cooling.
It's a small investment when you consider how much you are spending on a nice scope. That nice scope can last a lifetime of you make a nice comfy bed for it to lay in.
Just get it, watch the videos, use it, and never look back. Charge your buddies $20 bucks to borrow it and let it pay for itself.
Cheers

Hey, if it's good enough for ol' Larry Potterfield, the gun wizard, it's got to be good!

Anyone with experience with this exact kit? Do you recommend it and why?

I'd say grab one before they sell out. Read the reviews on amazon then add in the fact your paying $20-$30 less than normal. I have the same kit and do I really need it? Most likely not.... But it is nice using it to mount scopes knowing they are properly lined up to the best of my ability. Its one of those items where before I got by just fine without it. But when I finally made the investment its a tool kit I'm glad I have. I'd say I get the most use of the torque driver. Its nice knowing I can easily torque everything I put together to spec.
