Description

Creed: A set of fundamental beliefs. For Walther, those beliefs are superior ergonomics, excellence in trigger design, and unparalleled accuracy, quality and reliability. The new Walther Creed makes a statement in modern polymer-frame handguns that all of these features can be achieved with an economic price-tag. The Creed offers a reinforced polymer frame with signature ergonomics that shooters have come to expect from Walther. The Walther Creed features a pre-cocked double-action trigger system and a bobbed hammer that ensure a no-snag draw from a concealment. This system provides the shooter with a light and smooth trigger pull, consistent from the first shot to the last. All metal components are treated with a corrosion and abrasion resistant TENIFER® coating, providing a matte black hardened surface. With an ambidextrous magazine release, low profile steel 3-dot sights, and front and rear cocking serrations on the slide, Walther refused to compromise on the quality or features of the Creed. I've had my creed for about 6 months now and put around a thousand rounds through it without one jam. Highly recommended

This Gun is no comparison to a Highpoint, I own one it's far superior than any highpoint and in my expert opinion about the same maybe a little better than SD9VE, Glocks Suck ergonomically and the triggers aren't the best either. The SD9VE TRIGGER is one of the worst Ive ever fired. I'd buy a Tauras pt111 gen2, Canik Tp9, Eaa K2P, EAA Witness, Im sure I'm missing many guns that are better than the junk SD9VE...

Having held and fired one I am sad to say it is like a Hi Point Gen 2(a step better ergonomically and better balanced). I absolutely love Walther PPQ M2's but they are so very different in every aspect that there is no comparison sadly. Go for a PPS or PPQ if you have the money and want a Walther. If you must buy at this price point a SW9VE is a better buy. The SW9VE is a glock 17 knock off but a very good knock off at that.

Creed is not a Striker Fired gun thats why it can be made cheaper, trigger is not as good as PPQ or others but its not bad at all for a self defense gun. For $279 I'm hard pressed to think of a better semi auto 9mm???

No price match button deguns, repeat customer had 2 on layaway at 289 they would not adjust price to 279.

I have a PPQ and LOVE it. Great trigger, minimal reset and very accurate out the box. I've been curious how these Creeds compare to the PPQ since they appear very similar physically.

I have a PPX and love the trigger. I tried the Creed out to compare and didn't think it was quite as crisp. Great price though!

Make sure you look at all the add on charges (insurance, signature, etc) and then figure your actual hands on costs.

How did this thread turn out to be a discussion on the Taurus pt 111?

That gun is worth about $125

I used to own a PPX and if the Creed's trigger and reliability is anything like the PPX then its going to be very good seller for Walther. Probably should have kept the PPX, never had a single problem with it.

I bought a used pt111 that needed a new spring, I called Taurus and they said since all guns have a transferable lifetime warranty they would send me a new one free of charge. It was in my mailbox 5 days later with a $50 rebate coupon!

The PT111'S G2 are fantastic weapons for the money, in my opinion the best sub $250, even $300 pistol you can buy. 13 rounds, a rail and ultra reliable in the same size as a 7 round S&W shield. They are brass eating machines. I speak from experience as I've owned a total of 8 over the years and still have 3. The ONLY complaint to is when they're new the triggers can be a bit heavy and gritty but by either putting a few hundred rounds or a little time with a polishing wheel on a Dremel they are easily sorted out. I've never had any mechanical failure of any sorts with any of my pt111'S. People who knock them speak without owning them....they try to compare to hipoint due to the price point and jump on the uninformed bandwagon....I will gladly buy any that someone doesn't like. ...if you can find one sub $220, it's well worth it. Like I said I've shot the cheapest stell, cheap brass, self defense and plus P ammunition and never had an issue.

IMO, the Shield is certainly a closer match to a 111 than the larger PPX/CREED. The 111 is easily had for 100 less than a Shield and is a good value for the price.

The (discontinued) 24/7 would be a ~somewhat similar~ categorical match for a PPX/CREED.

Doesn't look like Taurus currently offers a full-size striker fired 9. All their large frames are hammer-fired,,,

I'm almost certain the Creed is 'todays version' of the PPX.

We don't have a Creed, but do have both a 111G2 and a PPX in 9.

They are 2 different guns that I personally would not "lump together" in any real way other than they are both dependable, ~somewhat sim~ price range, and shoot 9mm.

The considerably smaller 111 is easier to conceal. It's dependable. It has 2nd strike capability. And that's about as 'glowing' as I can get about it.

The PPX is the far better 'shooter' of the 2, with far more smiles at the Range than the snappy 111 provides us. 100% dependable. Night and day difference in trigger. (The 111's is 'plucky/springy', while the PPX's is far smoother,,, crisp)

But then again,,, they are 2 different guns.

If you want one for concealed EDC, the 111 would have it's smaller size and second strike capability in it's favor.

If you like to go to the range and ENJOY a couple hundred rounds of target, and perhaps you're more of a 'keep it by the bed stand at night' type vs' the "EDC" type, the PPX, in my opinion, is the one to have. (Not saying you couldn't EDC a PPX if you wanted to. Just saying the 111 is a lot smaller and the second strike capability might,,,, might be a positive in certain situations)

We won't swap our PPX for a CREED in 9mm as I don't see enough difference to bother, but, I AM impressed enough with our PPX that a CREED in 45 might follow me home,,,.

As always, YMMV

Trust me...I just hate giving up my hard-earned money. But I have heard horror stories about Taurus automatics. Repair schedules in the months and almost years. People calling in after 6 months and Taurus saying that they have no idea how long it is going to take to repair their gun. Many people feel that Taurus should also give you 4-5 return slips when you receive your new gun. I would rather spend twice as much on a gun that I can trust and that I will have in my possession than one that may or may not work when I pull the trigger or being in the shop constantly being repaired..or 507th in line waiting to be fixed. I would rather spend $50 less and pick up a Hi-Point 9mm than buy a Taurus. They maybe fugly but at least they are more reliabl.

Duane, sounds to me as if you're not all that familiar with the PT-111. If you're not, you may want to do a little investigating on your own. I would also suggest sticking to reputable sources rather than from those sites that are full of postings from "a friend of a friend who heard" something. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised about the performance and reliability of the PT-111. Of course I'm sure you'll find a horror story or two here or there, but those are true for all mass produced models, regardless of who's name is stamped on the slide. Personally, I like Springfield and Walther and believe they offer some very nice products. However, I have also read my share of horror stories about some of their guns as well.

As a mater of fact, let me put my money where my mouth is. If you (DuaneDibbley and ONLY DuaneDibbley) buy a PT-111 in the next 30 days, for the current list price of $209.99, and the gun turns out to be a turd (does not fire or cycle reliably after the initial 50-100 round break in period), PM me and I will buy it from you for the same retail price (less shipping / handling, FFL fees, taxes, etc.). However, please let me note that this is ONLY being offered if the gun fails to perform, and not for personal dislikes about the gun. Also, this is ONLY being offered for a single PT-111 firearm (1 gun) purchased by YOU (DuaneDibbley) and not friends, family or anyone else that happens to read this post...lol. Last but not least, if the gun is returned to me, you must send it from your FFL to my FFL in like new condition (less initial wear from the rounds you've fired), and it must come with all items received when originally purchased.

Thanks for the offer. But I just bought a Springfield 9mm last night, and have 2 sitting at the house I haven't even fired yet. Yes, I have no personal experience with the P111. It is a handsome gun and does hold a bit more than something like the XDs. I was really interested in the Ruger E9 or the Taurus 809, or even the one listed here (Creed). The Ruger just looked too plain for me. The Taurus seemed to have quite a bit of complaints online. Another thing I hate is safeties, something the less expensive guns tend to have too many of (like the POS two Phoenix Arms (.22 and .25) I used to own-another story...). So I decided to stick with what I knew was a good gun, the Springfield XD Mod 2 9mm full size 4". A bit more $ but will be getting 6 mags in all with the rebate. I do understand that some guns will have trouble out of the box, or within a few hundred rounds. I know my Hi-Point 9mm Carbine has lasted around 15-20 years now. I bought a Hi-Point 45 pistol and the mag had a tendency of just falling out. Not a good thing when you are using it for home defense. So I sold it and bought a Glock 21. Something with a much better reputation. ANd I know the Springfields also have a good rep (XD-m and XD Mod 2). I did hear of the XDS's having trouble. But I wanted something with a large mag, preferably a full size.

The trigger set up is nice but this thing is still a big ol' brick. Its still a PPX. Walther should put this trigger in a tiny single stack.380 & kill the G42, LCP & P238.

A few people on youtube said they disliked the hammer. They kept looking at it instead of the sight. I have a Walther P22. It must have a different hammer setup on it because it doesn't bother me.

Some people have been calling the Creed a Hi-Point Mod 2 or 3. They are not far off.

If you don't mind spending $69.00 more you can get a Springfield XD9 subcompact with a 13 and 16 round magazines and the rebate of 4 more magazines, holster and magazine pouch.

I do believe the Creed only comes with one mag.

I saw the deal on the XD but spent the extra $ on the full size 9mm and the newer Mod 2. Bought it for $419 five minutes ago. I bought the XDm 9mm a few weeks ago for $466 and the XD Mod 2 45 subcompact a few months ago for $400. Yet to chamber a round in either.

If you don't mind spending $120 more, you can pick up a Springfield XD Mod 2 9MM and with the rebate, end up with 6 magazines and a much better gun.
