They are built on the same standard as the RPK style machine guns, Vepr is 50% more reinforced than a standard stamped AK rifle. Each rifle has been manufactured using state of the art technology, effectively creating a heavier duty piece that will last through not just a lifetime but for many generations to come. The RPK-style barrels are hammer forged and chrome lined using techniques that make them four to five times stronger than a standard AK or RPK barrel.

ok when I posted this comment, price was $899, now the dealer has it lowered to $889. Also, I misread the info on centerfiresystems.com, this rifle does not qualif for free shipping. still I don't think this is a great deal, deal would be $850 or less

Thanks for fixing the description to read 5-round magazines. I saw the rifle a few weeks ago & my heart jumped when I saw 10-round & thought someone had finally come out with a larger mag, but alas, close comparisons of the mag in the picture to others convinced me it was a typo.
These 7.62x54R VEPRs would sell like hotcakes if only they accepted double-stack mags from SVD or even PSL rifles. Or Bren magazines or...
