I'm happy with mine. Today the "pro" version was listed for $100 more. No adjustable stock though just upper and lower picatinny. Not worth the dif.!! Get this, you won't be sorry.!

I bought one of these 1 year ago so I could have a cheap beater shotgun around the farm. It operates much better than expected. Have only had 1 stovepot and that was the 1st time I shot it using low brass pigeon shot. I only use heavy loads with it, so 1oz slugs and magnum 00 buck and it works very well. So if your on the fence I would recommend it. The only downside is the stock, I dislike it and it's a pain in the ass if you want to change it (you can find conversion kits for this particular gun) All that being said, I will not use it for home defence, if your looking for a good home defense gun try the FN SLP, it has never failed even with light target loads.

I bought one. They are the most reliable and newest upgrade ( other than the pro w picitinny fore rail) ESSG is the best of a confusing lot of mfgrs. using the same " akdal MKA 1919 "name. Great gun, go for it you won't be sorry!

NB: to prospective purchasers: the Akdal MKA 1919, 1919 XN & 1919 MATCH are 3 _DIFFERENT MODELS_, so be careful which you're buying! The XN fixed some of the problems w/ the original 1919, and the MATCH model went further still. These are cheap enough that I suspect they're the original 1919s, which had a problem w/ the bolt [steel] chewing into the receiver [aluminum] during recoil. Caveat Emptor!

I'm trying hard to figure out why anyone would want one of these. The ONLY allure of this would be a high-capacity magazine and it doesn't even come with one. Otherwise, a 40x scope, bipod, bayonet, laser sight, flashlight, and of course, suppressor, and you've got yourself a really stupid looking shotgun.

2 reasons that I can think of:

#1 - 3gun competition. Tube-mag shotguns suffer from the same problems tube-mag rifles did, which is why box mag rifles began replacing the tube-mag ones in military service ~ 125 years ago: they take too long to reload, and the balance changes during the course of a string of fire.

#2: You live somewhere that you cannot own a full auto sub-gun. And a submachine gun is the only rival to a semi-auto shotgun at putting the same volume of lead on target at urban combat distances. No hi-caps required.

And in the meantime, if you can find a 2-rd mag for one of these, you can use it for hunting anywhere they're legal to purchase. ;)

But "BOO!" that this is being sold by Sportsman's Guide, since they won't ship it to CA, regardless of the fact that I can have my FFL install a bullet button to make it legal for sale before the transfer...

what's a bullet button?

It's one of the most retarded things we have to deal with in California. You need to use a tool to remove the mag. It's a pain in the ass...

These are very finicky semi auto 12 gauge shotguns. I've been doing alot of research as I just bought a similar model. The require 200 to 300 rounds of solid break in and "LEARNING" time on how to adjust the gas system to different ammo but if you can take the time to do this they can be quite fun and alot of firepower. My biggest complaint is price and availability of hi cap mags. Very little optiins, no drums on the market unless you do some mods to others . There are a couple 3 gun websites online that do specifically mka 1919 upgrades and aftermarket parts but again are expensive. ..so I guess it depends on your budget, patience level and intention. Good luck, price is right though and always had good luck with SG..

If the similar model you bought was a PW arms, don't compare the two. I have the PW and the Akdal. The internals on the Akdal are built to last and the PW isn't. The Akdal will shoot low brass right out of the box and the PW won't. This is the best buy on a Akdal 1919 Match I have ever seen. If you are wanting a AR style shotgun, this is the deal you have been waiting for.

Not from what I've seen. I have one, the "XN" model, and I've not had any problems with ammo. This certainly was true for an early run, but I believe for the most part it has been corrected. I have yet to have any FTFs or the like, and I haven't had to fiddle with the gas system.

That said some of the upgrades for it are very nice (yet as pricy as the gun itself) indeed.
