Description

ELG stands for 'Enhanced Longitudinal Grind'. These new lower parts kits have set the standard when it comes to out-of-the-box mil-spec performance for Original Equipment Manufacturers. Now we're moving them to the retail markets.

At the heart of this kit stands the longitudinally-ground trigger, which is ground in-line with the direction of pull along the long axis of the trigger, and then finish-polished. This grind and polish provide these two significant advantages over standard mil-spec kits:
A smoother pull with reduced grittiness
An enhanced basis for performing a trigger job

I installed one of these kits. I thought the trigger was a little gritty so I repolished all the polished areas and got them to a more mirror like surface then I definitely could tell the difference between this trigger and the one my radical firearms rifle came with. Still a hard trigger pull but with zero grit. Side note i didn't like the magazine release button that came with this kit. Its black shiny plastic and feels cheap. Other then that everything else fit perfectly and the install went smooth.

Tried this ELG trigger kit for one of my builds. Actually pretty decent for the price. Not quite as good as ALG’s Quality Milspec Trigger but same ballpark and definitely better than many cheap triggers I’ve come across.

They're right. The bolt catch/release pin is the hardest piece to install. I've used several methods (needle nose to hold it, various punches. I found a punch designed for this that beat all the others I have/had. From Primary Arms it's KAK Industry roll pin punch. It cost about $7. Stainless steel, long enough so your hammer won't hit the side of the receiver, holds roll pin to get it started. Even then I still found some stiff but flexible plastic from some old product package that I taped to the side of the receiver just in case something slipped it wouldn't scratch or gouge the reciever. Works great.

You shouldn't expect instructions with the parts kit itself, but there are hundreds of tutorials online. If you like text, check out the DIY on PewPewTactical's website. If you like video, then Full30's website is the way to go. In any case, don't let not having put one together before stop you. It's easy, straightforward and relatively hard to mess up if you look at instructions and go slow.

Have yet to have found a parts kit that came with instructions. By far the hardest thing you'll come across is the damn roll pin for the bolt catch. Don't have a great solution on that one, but some suggest using pliers to crimp the pin to get it started.

Try the long roll pin punches with the shaft half machined off from Brownells. I've had great results with that without marring the receiver.

I've got a normal sized half machined punch, still a pia. I'll check to see if it's the same as what brownells has. Found a hack using a allen wrench to get everything lined up. Gonna try that on the next build.

The company has been around for a while. I first heard of them years ago when the owner was on the AR-15 podcast. She is a real babe

Wait....wait. Wait. For real?? A real babe?? My apologies ma’am. If you’d like to meet in person for my apology that’s cool too.

Wait. So Unbranded is the actual brand? There’s some genius marketing right there. What’s next?? Firearm ready optics??(instead of optics ready firearms)??

I’m on to something . . .
