Nearly all of these that you'll find on Amazon are knockoffs. I have a few, one I know to be a true Ultrafire. The quality varies, and one knockoff actually seems to be superior to the genuine Ultrafire.

For less than $10, or less than $20 with battery and charger, it's hard to beat these for value. The Cree XM-L T6 is an amazing LED, and the 18650 is nice (basically two CR123's with a little extra juice and rechargeable). There are a ton of knockoff 18650's around, though, so be careful. Rechargeable lithium batteries should be treated with care. Many of the "Ultrafire" batteries on Amazon are actually used laptop cells wrapped with a fake label. Monitor closely at least the first couple times you charge them. If they start to swell at all, stop charging and discard!

I would never put this on a weapon that I had to rely on, but I have tested these on AR-15's and 870's. The 12-gauge really gives it a beating and has enough force to actuate the button on some of the ones I have, turning it on and off with each shot. I haven't had any of them actually fail, though.

I recommend disassembling and tightening all internal parts. The spring base plate especially is almost always loose. I also recommend silicone grease for the threads of any flashlight.
