I'm not the smartest person, but boy I sure do like listening to men that know what they are talking about. Thanks for clarifying Crabby, and you did it in a very tasteful manner. It was a pleasure reading your post, thanks again for setting the record straight. Long live diehard Americans!!!!!

I will also post my response to you in the other comment:

Not a lawyer, but an engineer. You can buy these for $6 dollars in the China sites or for $10 bucks in ebay. Additionally, it is not about Radian quality or not - if you want a cheap one, this is not a deal regardless. The core of my point is about claiming to make something in a place where it is not made. It is about selling a cheap product and claiming it is 7075 and made in the USA (both are lies). Your point about fraud or copyright infringement (whatever) lacks the knowledge that patents and protections DO expire. However, it takes a few years for that, and the AR is a very old invention. And while I also explained that it would be rare for anyone to need to worry about 922R, it applies to my german made AR15 and import variants that I own, and that is why I threw it in there as a last comment. I also explained that it would be rare for anyone to need that. Relax and breathe - I am here merely calling out a crap product that can be purchased for much less and adding a few logical thoughts

As an retired aviation engineer and veteran, I totally agree.
Bottom line is you get what you pay for. When Stag Arms pushed their Raptor like Ar15 Ambi charging handle during their Black Friday sale, claiming it was made in the USA. I immediately called bullshit. A few people here claimed it was a OEM Radian product, and told me I was nuts. I've tried nearly every charging handle on the market, and tested many clones, some are better than others, but none I'd count on for duty use.

I guarantee this product will weigh at least 33% more than a Radian Raptor and the likelihood that it will malfunction is high due to shortcuts the Chinese take. Just do a magnet test. Take a magnet and if it sticks to the charging handle latches, it's a clone. Magnets don't stick to any part of a Raptor other than the roll pin and the two springs in the latches.

After I called BS to the Stag Arms Raptor clone they sold during their last Black Friday, they stood by it was made in the USA, so I ordered one. A few days later Stag Arms admitted it was indeed NOT made in the USA.

I commend them for their soft voluntary recall as everything I stated, was spot on. They emailed every customer that bought one offering them a refund. I just tossed the one they sold me into my parts bin for products that don't cut the mustard and moved on.

I do believe Stag Arms possibly got duped by their supplier, but if they looked at it closely, it was clearly a hastily made Chinese product, that cut every corner they could to keep costs down.

The biggest give away was that they faux roll pin, they used a common screw instead of a roll pin on the chargers latches, then dribbled in a piece of black polymer on top of the line-x type of coating used, so it's harder to tell no roll pin was used. On the reverse side it's much easier to see, they simply cut the bolt or screw off at an angle, and they again dribbled that coating to hide this abnormality.

Both Latches on the Stag Arms Chinese charging handle are made of ferrous steel, Raptor latches are always aluminium. By using steel over aluminum, it increased the weight by 19 grams or simply it's 1/3 heavier than it needs to be. For some a little weight doesn't matter, but some people like to keep the weight down when possible.

These Chinese made latches also have another tell tale sign, if you pull the latch, you'll see it's exposed spring, proving these were made as cheaply as possible. Radian Raptor's springs are slightly recessed, so FOD doesnt gum up the springs action.

There is however a function issue with these, it's the coating they used, it's not as thick as Line-X, but its still a problem as it comes off and can jam a rifles action.
Truthfully, if you take some solvent and a little emery paper and rub a bit of the coating off, it's less likely to foul the rifles action, if its for a range plinking gun, then the juice is worth the squeeze. But relying on this for a duty or relied upon weapon is NOT a great idea.

Caveat emptor if you buy this or any Chinese Raptor clone. Some are better than others. The worst one I ever tried, had undersized roll pins fall out the 1st shot I took while testing it.

There are some issues here: 1.The claim that this is made in the USA is an FTC violation and a lie to the customer. 2.That a simple Google search reveals that RFS Sports, Inc purchases 'sporting equipment' from China (Yinan Wenyang Dayun Trade Company). 3.That this product is essentially a knockoff of the Raptor, a fraud and violation of some state and Federal law. 4.That regardless of the aforementioned, these charging handles tend to get loose and rattle and many people have reported that they have pins that fail. 5.That you can buy them for ten bucks in eBay 6.That some folks might be concerned about 922R (limitation on number of imported parts on a weapon allowed by law); however, this should be a small number of folks.

Don't get me wrong - I agree with your point e.g., my Nikes are made in China, but I know that and they aren't lying to me about that.

Why all the lawyer talk? Any idiot knows that an ambi ch for $15 isn't a Radian quality. Also, Davidson Defense doesn't have a stellar reputation among the gun community to start with. And knocking off or copying something isn't fraud or is illegal. If that was true, then there wouldn't be any ARs in existence except for the original Armalite Rifle (AR) of the 1950s. So, if Colt, S&W, Ruger, Springfield Armory, and thousands of others can copy an entire gun, why do you think it's fraud and illegal to copy a simple charging handle? And where did the 922R stuff come from? 922R has nothing to do with whether you have Chinese parts, Mexican parts, or Bulgarian in your build. The 2 best examples that I can think of when someone needs to be concerned with 922R compliance are the owners of CZ Scorpions (which I am) and of an AK that is made in China, Russia, or Eastern European. Foreign guns made in foreign countries need to be in 922R compliance. You came off as sounding smart, but your facts fell short

Your right, but during that Stag Arms Raptor like sale, more than a few people were claiming as a fact that it was indeed a unlabeled Radian product. Sold at a steep discount for whatever reason. Lots of people saw those claims and thousands were sold on that pretext my friend.

Some are more easily duped than others my friend. ;)

This post is so stupid and full of holes I am going to have to take it one line at a time

-Why all the lawyer talk?

Using words that have more than one syllable is “lawyer talk?”

-Any idiot knows that an ambi ch for $15 isn't a Radian quality.

Davidson Defense is banking on that NOT being the case. Would it be okay if I sold fake Goodyear tires at 1/3 of the price because ‘any idiot (should) know’ the difference?

-Also, Davidson Defense doesn't have a stellar reputation among the gun community to start with.

Something the seller is also banking on newbs not knowing.

-And knocking off or copying something isn't fraud or is illegal.

Were you deprived of oxygen as a baby? Patent and Trademark law say otherwise (see above about “Goodyear”).

-If that was true, then there wouldn't be any ARs in existence except for the original Armalite Rifle (AR) of the 1950s.

That design is NOT patented. The NAME Armalite IS Trademarked. There is no way you passed the ASVAB.

-So, if Colt, S&W, Ruger, Springfield Armory, and thousands of others can copy an entire gun, why do you think it's fraud and illegal to copy a simple charging handle?

If the design is patented then it is 100 percent fraudulent / illegal to copy it and it is also 100 percent fraudulent / illegal to use another company’s Trademarked names / logo’s without express consent. How many S&W LCP’s do you see for sale? What about Ruger’s new XD line? Yeah….

-And where did the 922R stuff come from? 922R has nothing to do with whether you have Chinese --------parts, Mexican parts, or Bulgarian in your build.

People can / do import AR's.

Well, I guess I can be the sole positive review here. lol I have two of these. The first one I got when I purchased an ar-9 upper from these guys. The discount code for the upper didn't work like it should have and they were going to refund me like 17 bucks so I asked if they would just send me one of these and call it good. They did (cool people) and I was really surprised how well it works. I've had zero malfunctions and it fits exactly the same way my mil-spec charging handle fits. Liked it so much I bought a second for my 300 blk pistol. Idk if all the hate comes from people who have actually used these or not but I have 2 of them and have had nothing but success with each of them. BTW the 9mm upper has also been problem free. Maybe I got lucky? I don't know?

I listed the defects to these above. Luck shouldn't be in the equation when buying firearm parts my friend.

Nobody claims they don't work nor it having fitment issues aside from the coating on them. If you want to count on a cheaply made Chinese product that's your business. As I also said above, for plinking and range use this might be a good fit if it's all you can afford. I'd rather have a solid product that works 100% than risk it failing when the chips are down. I've been in a armed home invasion, I survived because I knew I could count on my gear.

You can take the airbag and seat belts out of a vehicle, the car will still get you from point A to point B, but if you get in a head on collision, you'll most likely die. Relying on poorly made Chinese charging handle clones for duty use or if push comes to shove is fairly foolish.

My best advice is to buy the best you can afford.

They owed you $17 - and you were cool with them sending you a ChiCom air5oft charging handle that currently goes for $9 on eBay?

At the time these were not available on ebay - this was the only charging handle like this that was less than $50. And yes, I wanted (I asked) to forfeit a $17 refund to be able to make my own determination about this product - to be able to handle it myself use it in my gun and prove whether it is relieable or not. Also it allowed me the luxury of not having to rely on keyboard/internet commandos who have never touched/used/proven the product yet still seem to have so much useful knowledge about it. Do airsoft guns even use charging handles?

I placed an order from these guys for an upper, charging handle, and BCG. While it does go bang, I would not put my life on it. The quality control and tolerances are just absolutely terrible. I had to send the upper back because of a coating issue and the fact that the charging handle wouldn't fit into the receiver. On top of that the muzzle device at the end of my barrel was unfinished and had metal shavings still attached which sliced into my finger. Don't get me started on this charging handle. It rattles like no other and feels as if it is on its last limb. I will say that once I was able to get them on the phone (probably 15-20 attempts) they were very helpful and willing to replace my upper.

Hmm, $27 with shipping. You can pick up a raptor lt for $45 shipped from multiple places. In fact I bought 2 from optics planet. They were $49 plus the 10% off last week during their sale. They always have 5% off coupons if you can’t wait. . Free shipping over $45. $18 more and you get real deal. Shouldn’t even be a discussion. Or just spend the $25 on a strike industries billet handle with extended latch when they are on sale. Both are great options and similar price points.

If your comparing side by side then if not garbage I would say, “the charging handle for the gun I loan my cousin.” I have both, use both, and the Chinese ones are like seeing a porn star at a bar. You think you want it, and if you had it it would be great. Then you try it and realize where the term hotdog down a hallway come from.

It's not what it looks like my friend, it's about what it's made from and that's its made properly, and this cheap chinese counterfeit knockoff is made from the cheapest components, manufactured to look good and sidelines functionality due to shoddy materials and workmanship.

If you prefer to use a shoddy piece of gear, better you than me, I prefer my arms to function as close as 100% as possible.
With this, when the chips are down, you're betting your life it won't fail.

If you bought a Raptor, you wouldn't worry about such things.
Some things aren't worth cutting corners on, if your charging handle breaks, your rifle becomes a paperweight, unless you slam it.

Thumbed up your comment even though I don't agree with it, to each their own. But I've compared this product and many other clones as well, they are not the same, not at all.

And Lucky if you get orders listed as in stock items after 3 weeks. Guess they have to wait the 3 to 5 weeks for them to get from china first!

Make certain to deburr & remove all fine edges from that steel latch or it's going to eat your aluminum receiver alive. Round all the sharp corners & it should be fine.
