Description

The Thompson/Center® Compass™ Centerfire Bolt-Action Rifle offers shooters an exceptionally functional centerfire bolt-action rifle from a trusted American brand—at an affordable price. The compass utilizes a 3-lug bolt design for a dependable lock up, while providing a 60° bolt lift to ensure fast, smooth cycling of the action. The lightweight synthetic stock has aluminum pillar bedding to provide a solid platform for the receiver while free floating the barrel for consistent accuracy. Contours and texturing on the stock provide a sure grip, and a rubber recoil pad minimizes felt recoil to keep you on target. The trigger is easily adjustable by the user to obtain preferred weight-of-pull with minimum over-travel. The Compass comes with a Thompson/Center match grade barrel with 5R rifling that delivers precision accuracy. The drilled and tapped receiver comes with factory installed Weaver-style bases. A 3-position safety allows the rifle to be loaded and unloaded with the safety engaged. All chamberings prices have gone back to 349.99 now. The store finder still says "no store in your state" though. I posted screenshots on their facebook and it took them 15 hours to respond with "please call customer service to resolve this issue".

Tried online, can't get past zip code aparently Cabelas website thinks they don't have any stores in WA. Called and was told by a lady it's sold out and it must have been price error because nobody sells 308's for such low price.

You may be right. But if they show in stock academy will price match it and beat it by 5%. Got a 30-06 compass a month ago for 225 that way

Uh huh...suuuuure you did. Man, STFU & quit lyin'. You bashed a $329 Beretta as "high-priced garbage" in one post, but gushed about how you bought a much more expensive Beretta in another. Sooo, now we're supposed to believe you're buying 4 Thompson Center rifles from Cabela's? Ooook big guy. Let's see 'em then...

Awe man, looks like a hoax or mistake, I was so wanting to get one in 308 for 99 bucks. Shoulda figured it was too good to be true.

Just off the phone from Nebraska for Cabela's . They've informed me its a mistake most likely and all models are pulled from any future orders.

B.S. it says I have a store a couple hours away from me in Springfield Oregon yet when I try to order this rifle it says "no stores found in your state"? I know for fact theres two stores in my state at least... unless they all closed recently?

Try it on your phone. I just did, but the .308 was out of stock. It said the 6.5 was back in stock, so I took another crack at it. This after I said "never again" after the last time, lol. *hangs head in shame

I bought the 6.5 Creedmoor last week (when it supposedly was back in stock). Everything went through fine, then 14 hours later the canceled the order because I didn't pick it up in time. They never even shipped the damn thing, and they had the nerve to blame me for it.

Trying to order the 308 for $99, I add it to cart, go all the way through the checkout and enter my CC info, and then place the order only for it to tell me that they can't place my order because of insufficient inventory. Why not just show it out of stock?

This is a great gun. The interchangeable concept is wonderful. My only complaint is that the grippy surface material of the stock can easily be scratched. Otherwise, this gun is perfect.

How ugly is the gun in real life?

I got one in 30-06 a week or so ago but I had academy match this piece and beat it by 5%. $227. Thing is amazing, 1 moa at 100yard. I’d of easily paid $200 more for it.

Is that a policy to match and beat by 5???

My .308 is a tack driver with Hornady Superformance Ammo with the 150 grain SST bullet. With careful work... It shoots at about 1 moa at 100yds. The rifle action is smooth enough. Good deer hunting rifle. Only thing I wasnt happy about was that when I bought it years ago from Gander Mountain when they were going out of business... I learned that it was previously recalled... And supposedly fixed. The trigger pulls at 6.5lbs. Should pull at a bit less. To make it safer, Thompson Center (Smith and Wesson) added heavier trigger springs. I can shoot it just fine... Especially with adrenaline flowing... It feels like a 2lb trigger lol. Just make sure yours pulls at an acceptible weight before you seal the deal. Not sure what they did as a redesign after the initial recall.

And for the record... Id give the rifle for the money a solid 4

$240 is a good price. I think I paid a little less after the Black Friday rebate 3 years ago. Mine is 300 win and has been great. But no more than 50 rounds through it. Killed and elk with it 2 years ago and its Been in the safe ever since.

The rebate ($50) that T/C has going on for these rifles is for veterans, National Guard, Reserves , and active duty.

That all depends on what is meant when you say “buy.”

State to state may vary but the monetary requirement by the selling party (ie purchase price typically) can in fact be provided by another party such as a gift. Again, some states require the “gift giver” to be present to pay for the firearm at the time of sale.

However, if you mean “buy” as register it in someones elses name and/or have their data ran for the background, then this can get someone in to trouble potentially. Again, depending on the state, transfer of ownership is 100% legal between immediate family members with no time requirement (usually) for the previous owner to possess the firearm(s) prior to transferring. This of course cannot be done to an immediately family member who is “unfit” for firearms ownership/possession.

Not a lawyer, nor is it legal advice. However, being more informed should be all our objectives as responsible gun owners.

Lastly, Veteran and L/E special pricing is recognition for the special sacrifice those indivduals have and/or continue to perform.

Please respect that. If you want to participate in the special pricing, please join and honorably serve in one or both of these communities.

I wish I could be more of a gun holder than I already am. But I get in enough trouble. I would definitely buy this. I think there's also rebates if you get a veteran to buy it for you

Having someone buy a firearm for you is illegal...

It's only illegal if you are a prohibited person. I guess 50% of wives should be in jail then.

Most calibers are on backorder, but still show 5-8 day times to ship to store. I purchased one in 6.5 creedmoore, shows 5-8 days to pick up in store. I'll update when something changes.
