I had one of these in 454 several years ago, and I really can't say anything bad about it, except that it was a Taurus. It was quite accurate and rugged. It also had great fit and finish.

So, all you can say bad is, "It's a Taurus?"

You just admitted it's a perfect gun. There is nothing bad about a Taurus, any more than there is about a Glock or Springfield.

I've had at least 6 Taurus weapons, and only had one issue with one gun (a gun I bought used @ a pawn shop). Taurus said the failure was a result of reloads or defective ammo, and it could not be repaired. Then they sent a replacement to my FFL and the whole thing cost me $12 shipping.

Yeah, I would go with the 44 with the 8 3/8 barrel. Really, I comes down to, "Can I really live with this font or would I have chosen something different, maybe smaller, more discreet, or would I have used an 'olde english' font to go with my tribal tattoos that really seemed like a real statement about myself when I was 22. Who knows? Just go with the 44. Cheaper. Monetarily and emotionally the right choice.

It is but its kind of like a Desert Eagle, if you're going to do it, get a overpowering cartridge like 454 or 500. If you want to shoot 44 mag, the model 44 is cheaper and still plenty strong.

As I age, and my hands remind me how much I've abused them, I like the idea of a big, heavy frame 44 mag. In .44, these are almost fun to shoot. In .454, they are a handful. Only my airweight .357 is less pleasant than the crack of a .454 in my palm.

That said, at 21 yrs old, I would've called myself a pussy...

Is this any good?

I would trust it with my life. The ported barrel and robust construction mean you are going to put a grapefruit-sized hole in anything you aim it toward. I can keep every shot touching at 15 yds, if I manually cock it each shot. If I unload it as fast as I can, I still stay in the black circle or the chest of a target.
