TAURUS 92 - BRAZILLIAN WALNUT GRIPS

With its drop hammer forged, ordnance-grade alloy frame, the Taurus 92 is an innovative and reliable semiautomatic pistol that's built to last. The 92 features a three-position, frame-mounted ambidextrous safety that is more secure than a slide-mounted safety-allowing for a classic "cocked and locked" mode as well as a functioning DA decocking lever.

Not sure about them being open right now due to Covid-19 but the Bainbridge, GA plant opened last December. Beyond the TX-22 I don't know what else they make there so far.

Whatever happened to the New Taurus plant (in Georgia I believe) ? When these pinheads start producing these guns in the good ‘ol USA give me a call.

IDK on this one. I'm actually ok with most Taurus firearms of the newer years, older ones definitely had issues and most sucked. The past decade they've been working hard to get better. I've owned several Taurus guns in the past ten years like the $200 PT111 9mm, which I still think is one of the best compact sub $200 pistols available.
This one though looking up close the fit and finish look terrible...that parkerised finish and all the screws looking worse for wear, slide fitment, etc etc look less than desirable. The price is way to high. Should be around $275-$300.

I can't comment on price but there is a pretty big difference in the Beretta and the Taurus. First off, frame mounted Safety which Taurus claims " is more secure than a slide-mounted safety-allowing for a classic "cocked and locked" mode as well as a functioning DA decocking." My reason for preferring that is with smaller hands trying to reach up to a slide mounted safety isn't as easy. Also the Taurus has Picatinny accessory rail. 17 vs 15 too right?

Yes there are some differences, mainly in the location of the decock/safety lever. You can get Beretta's with a picatiny rail and plenty of 17 or 18 round mags as well. I don't personally want a safety on a DA/SA firearm so my Beretta's are all G variants. I'd still rather have the Beretta over a Taurus.

Pass, for the same money you can buy a Beretta 92fs.

I realize this is a month later, but where are you seeing new 92FS models for even $450 with free shipping? Let alone $430.

I’m not disagreeing with your sentiments that the Beretta is the better buy, but c’mon. Realistically? Best I’ve seen over the past few years is just under $500. Not calling you a liar, but would like a little validation for the community in the interest of those considering.

I can SAY that you can get a BCM AR for the same price as a PSA, but the conditions would need to be absolutely perfect. Not a very realistic measurement for whether or not to buy the PSA.

Seems an unfair reason to me.

It looks like prices on the 92 have crept up to around $480. IDK about shipping. That being said, the Beretta doesn't have to meet or beat the Taurus on price to be a better buy- just not be too much more expensive. Unless you really want the frame mounted safety, there's no reason not to pay $50 more for a gun from a company with a much better reputation that Taurus. IMO these should be $100+ less than a comparable Beretta to be worth considering. I say that as someone who owns a PT-111 and has had no issues; but the fit/finish are clearly not equal to Beretta standards.

I know Shoot straight had the 92fs as well as the Compact 92fs for 429 shipped a couple of months ago, I picked up a compact myself. I believe the deal was posted here but it's possible I found out about it on the Beretta Forum.
